Default Re: What is the reason to wait 12 hrs between smoking the same pipe?

I generally switch from cigars in the warmer months to pipes once it gets cold. Or when I go camping in the fall, I will bring my cob and some tobacco instead of cigars. I enjoy both too, just depends on the atmosphere.

Generally, you can smoke a briar pipe many times within a day. Smoking the same pipe 6 or 8 times during the same day is not unusual for serious pipe smokers. However, once you do so, that pipe should be allowed to rest for sveral days at minimum. Many serious pipe smokers agree that a full week is needed for such a pipe to dry out properly.

Actually, way, way, back in the day, that is the reason 7 Day Pipe Sets were introduced.

Now, remember, we are talking about a briar pipe. A Meerschaum Pipe can be smoked over and over and over, day after day, with only a 20/30 minute rest in between smokes. The same is true of Corn Cob Pipes!
