Recently tried the new Zaya, I never had the older version, but I was surprised how sweet it was, lots of vanilla... I liked it, but I have a serious sweet tooth, ask my dentist.
Another rum I enjoy is Saliors Jerry, a little SJ with coke and a wedge of lime on a sunny day at the pool.... nice. |

I assisted in the death of a bottle of Havana Club the other night, my usual is Appleton's. The Zaya sounds promising,Gotta get my hands on a bottle....

Found a local shop the other day that had ~12 bottles of Zaya in @ $39.99. As I already have some, I found another one to try...Rhum Barbancourt 15 yr. from Haiti. It was quite nice and went down easy, but I think I'd still choose Zaya as my favorite

A host of great Rums have already been mentioned! I'd like to add a link to some truly great Plantation Rums as well: http://www.plantationrum.com/en/produits.php
The 1998 series (Jamaica, Nicaragua & Grenada) and all worthy Rums, especially the Jamaica, at least IMHO. If your serious about Rum, you should give all of these a try. You will be amazed at how good they really are!!!

I've got the Trinidad 1993, Jamaica 8 Yr Old (no date on the bottle), and Trinidad 1991. The Jamaica is harsh, but sorta in a good way. I like it on cold nights by the fire, it definitely needs to be chilled or served on ice. The two Trinidad bottles are very different. I think I prefer the 1993, the '91 seems kinda harsh, but in a bad way.
