I didn't do all that but I did take off the o ring as it limits you on how high you can turn it up. I did that to all my Ronson Jet lites.

just did that modification on a "faulty" jetlite and it fixed the problem! Thanks. I think the resistance in the spring was just enough to prevent opening/activating/engaging the fuel line/supply. saved me another $2.97 for a new jetlite!!
