We had the same thing built into our lease. Problem was, the apartment was brand new and we were the only one's that ever used any of the appliances. We didn't know about the monetary ding until the check was mailed to us. When we called to attempt and rectify the situation, they told us we were too late as they had already hired a professional cleaning service to clean the oven. We got screwed, but didn't feel it was worth it to fight. We were just happy to be out of there and into our first house.
