What do you guys recommend for a good headset? Do I need surround sound or is amplified stereo good enough?

I do not want to spend a fortune, maybe around $100. I was thinking about getting wireless but I have been reading about interference. My gaming console is across the room, maybe 5-10 feet away from my couch.

I have been looking at Turtle Beach, but my brain cannot comprehend all of the different models.

---

Anyone got any advice on how I can get better at this game? This is my first time playing a first person shooter game on xbox.

I usually get 3-4 kills and 10-15 deaths per game.

What do you recommend for a good beginner weapon? I have been using the UMP45, I think I am level 12 or 13 on this gun. Would you recommend switching to another weapon?

for the smaller maps the ump45 is very good and the m14 is still about the best assualt rifle for the bigger maps.

Hardcore or regular? Everyone I play with only plays Hardcore, regular is for sissies

ACR Red dot and silenced, SCAR grenade launcher and ACOG, AK 47 silenced with a red dot. Sub Machine guns aren't great for bad accuracy because they don't do much damage.

I would recommend camping more. 10+ deaths is a lot. Personally, I don't like to die that much.

You can never have too many cigars, they are like an investment in good times.

What is the difference between regular and hardcore?

I usually play standard I think - I have been playing kill confirmed a lot as I can at least get some points grabbing dog tags.

I try camping, but I cannot seem to find places where I do not have someone come up behind me after some time and kill me.

Hardcore, there is no UAV, no respawn kill cam, less damage to kill. It takes more skill, but not everyone can see where they got shot from or notice you on the contant UAV. If you want points to rank-up, play Domination and just get flags.

Surround sound is a must if you actually use your ears when you play, meaning if you pay attention for footsteps running behind the wall you're facing. It's not necessity, but it helps when you start relying on more than just your eyes. Turtle Beach is a rather overpriced headset, however they do make good products and of course they're one of the sponsors for Call of Duty. Astro (http://www.astrogaming.com/) is the official sponsor of MLG, Major League Gaming, which is the competitive league. You can always go for Plantronics, Logitech, Sennheiser, Creative, Tritton, Sharkoon, Steelseries or Razor. I know that seems like there are way too many, but I'll list a couple known ones that are good.

http://www.amazon.com/Sharkoon-X-Tat...5998676&sr=8-1

http://www.amazon.com/Surround-Xbox-...5998704&sr=8-1

http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Wirel...5998711&sr=8-1

http://www.amazon.com/Force-Wireless...5998730&sr=8-2

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/AS...gheadphones-20

Some cheaper ones...

http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-CA-HS1...5998971&sr=8-1

http://www.amazon.com/Razer-Carcharias-Gaming-Headset-
Black/dp/B001PTH0VW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1325998950&sr=8-1

http://www.amazon.com/Creative-Labs-...5998903&sr=8-1

Caveat... Pay attention if they are XBOX/PS3 Compatible. If they are audio jack only then you'll need to buy an adapter. I hope that helps a little =D
