Maybe check out one of the marlin bolts. They are very nice, and you don't really have to worry about him running away like with a 10/22. Perhaps a single shot .22? check w. 4H or boy scouts in your area. They usually have a youth shooting program and may be able to help with a selection (single shot). Food for thought.

What are you hunting?
I know little about youth rifles but I will say the Remington 870 youth model I've had since I was 9 or 10 has been a fantastic and versatile gun. |
