I found them entertaining because of Johnny Depp, but overall they were ass.

Exactly. Capt. Jack Sparrow is an awesome character. The rest, not so much. The first film actually held my interest, the second one not so much. I only watched the third b/c the it was a holdover from part 2. I'm hoping this one will be independent from the second and third films.

The whole staggering, flamboyant, wouldn't-have-survived-to-age-twenty Sparrow character irritates me too much to watch these movies. I'm always rooting for the monster to kill everyone and live happily ever after. JMO

I agree. Whoever came up with the idea to split one plot into two sequels to make more money should be hung.
