I have repaired many cigars with liquid pectin and it works great. Just keep the extra in a jar in the fridge. I apply it with a toothpick and let it dry for a few minutes.
One time I was in a cigar shop and the owner was pulling out some damaged Rocky Patel the Edge cigars that had been dropped. He was going to throw them away but I told him that I would take them. I fixed all 10 of them with pectin and they smoked perfectly.
You can even make a patch for small holes or cracks by clipping the end and using that tobacco.
