Re: The Case of the Expanding Ring Gauge

That's some wonderful insight. Never thought about it from that perspective. My line of thinking in that situation would be along the lines of let me start off with something mild and light and...

Re: The Case of the Expanding Ring Gauge

Yea, I've definitely seen that before. I always figure the B&M owner would gently guide them in the other direction hehehe.

Maybe it's an advertising thing to challenge our machismo? I don't...

Re: The Case of the Expanding Ring Gauge

That's definitely an interesting take. I guess tradition can be ignored for some extra bucks.

Re: The Case of the Expanding Ring Gauge

I'm aware. What I find interesting (and this is a purely anecdotal observation) is that the boutique guys seemed to be really into making thinner RG cigars, but not so much anymore. I don't know. ...

The Case of the Expanding Ring Gauge

So, I walked into a local B&M yesterday and saw an article in CA online about a 64 RG cigar by E.P. Carillo.

64!!!!

That's one inch!!!! Now, I know it's been a trend for a while now, but...

Re: DPG 2nds?

Another vote for the LHO from me. Great Cheap Smoke. Also, Old Henry from Holt's is another DPG smoke worth checking out.

Re: The 'Pepin' Garcia & Friends Cigar Review Odyssey

This time I decided to try the La Aroma de Cuba Robusto, what's known as the new blend(the Pepin one). I've actually enjoyed the smaller sizes from the original blend, particularly the interlude and...

Re: The 'Pepin' Garcia & Friends Cigar Review Odyssey

Thanks. The Bijou was one of the best DPG smokes I've had to date. It ranks right up there with a Cabaiguan Robustos Extra I had two years ago, which was amazing.

Re: The 'Pepin' Garcia & Friends Cigar Review Odyssey

Well, I decided to light another new Pepin creation, the My Father La Bijou 1922 Petite Robusto. I've had the original My Father cigars, blended by Pepin's son Jaime Garcia, and really enjoyed the...

Re: Beginner Questions (Ask Them Here!)

Quick question: Is the length and firmness of the ash (and, I guess, the amount of time it stays on) indicative of the quality of the cigar?

I ask because through general observation, the cigars...

The 'Pepin' Garcia & Friends Cigar Review Odyssey

So I've hit a bit of a dry spell lately in my cigar smoking experiences and I've decided to tackle a fun, new, and exciting adventure.

I have enjoyed the cigars blended and rolled by Don Pepin,...

Re: The Role of Blogs within the Cigar Industry

Maybe a lack of dynamism in the case of Altadis and General. Altadis is itself part of Imperial Tobacco, a multinational corporation. The big boys in every industry always seem to lag behind in...

Re: The Role of Blogs within the Cigar Industry

The brands that do participate in the blogosphere and social media such as Tatuaje, Illusione, Padilla, are 'boutique' brands. It seems they make and market cigars for those of us invested into the...

Re: what's the WORST cigar you've smoked?

Thompson's Iguana. A Candela (and very very green candela at that) wrapped cigar. Kind of tasted like a burning iguana.

I don't remember why I bought these. Must have been Thompson's spiffy...
