So I broke down and weighed in this morn...
Up another 2 and change.

I'm still down 5.1 overall in 3 weeks, so I guess it's not bad

I need to get my metabolism straight, so I've been contemplating a diet/breakfast drink for mornings. I'm sure it would do better than the Special K bars I've been trying to remember to have...
Yesterday was leftover homemade chili, today was a Bulkie Roll sammie and a handful and a half of animal crackers in lieu of chips...

Dinner was a seasoned pork chop, mashed, and veggies. Tonight will be something with chicken, yellow rice and veggie - haven't decided how yet...

I ate the slimfast quick meal bars for breakfast every day for a year :tu They have enough calories (220) that they should stave off hunger enough till you get to lunch. They arent cheap.. But I havent found anything else that keeps me alive till lunch. I really think that breakfast was a pretty big step for me in terms of getting the metabolism on track. It sounds like you are already trying to make sure you eat at least something so thats a good step

Re: Losing Weight with Andysutherland

Breakfast is essential to losing weight. Get's you up and running in the morning. I like the SlimFast bars, but yes, they are expensive. I'll stick to my oatmeal.

Re: Losing Weight with Andysutherland

I don't remember, or run out more often than not.
I pick up the boxes of Spec.K cheap (Price Rite) so it isn't too bad.

I know it's the right thing... but I can never get past the 21-day thing.
And when I do remember, it's usually around 10 AM already, and I'm realizing that I'm hungry.

Oh well... http://www.emoticons4u.com/sad/533.gif

As long as I keep trying..............

Re: Losing Weight with Andysutherland

It takes 21 days to make a habit.
If you can do it for 21 days, you'll do it every day there after.

It goes along with the 7-Yes study.
If you can ask 7 questions and get a Yes every time, it is likely that you can get them to agree with what you want - for the 8th or 9th question.
(Haven't found a situation to test this one myself, yet...)

You're only 21 days away from a good habit!

This is now the fourth week in a row that I have weighed in at 242. Can't seem to drop from this point. Activity level rose this week and I thought that I'd at least lose a pound, but no such luck.

I agree, usually I have 18 oz of coffee for breakfast while at work. Sometimes I'll splurge and have a few fun sized candy bars, maybe a bagel, or some pretzels. Whatever is laying around the cube.

I'm on a mini-hiatus. Life got crazy-busy here and someone hid the scales away. OK, ok...I actually know where they are but they are no longer where I have easy use of them. Also, I think I will have to move my weigh-in to Friday. I'll be working 10s Mon-Thur with my bus leaving at 0540 for the 0700 start. The active job should also help with the weight loss. At least I'm hoping it will.

Weigh-in is tomorrow. I'll keep you updated. This cold plus allergies is not doing any good for my health right now. Hopefully I'll get over it soon. I can't even smoke a cigar right now for lack of flavor.

I finally lost another pound (probably due to this cold)! Down to 241 today. Two more pounds to go to get below the 240 mark.
I have officially lost 20lbs!

The New Year's Resolution kicks have all wore off of most of us by now. I still keep a very close watch over my diet but I'm not committed to exercising like I started out in January. I haven't fallen off the bandwagon, but I'm riding at the back. This little loss that I've had this week has given me some renewed enthusiasm though.

I am stoked about tomorrow's weigh-in. Unless I eat a horse today, I'm sure to have a good loss. I weighed in this morning at 237. :wo
I bought my middle child a basketball goal for his birthday and we have been out there the past two day playing ball. I attribute the loss to this. Basketball is a great way to get in some good exercise. I've been tired out two days straight now.

Thanks Dan. Motivation is key. I've still got the rest of the day before the official weigh-in. I'm gonna get in a fair amount of exercise when I get home to see if I can't keep it at this weight or lower.

I hear ya Myles! I have the same problem.
Just get back on the wagon and start moving forward! We all fall off from time to time, it's whether or not we pick ourselves back up that makes the difference.

Don't quit on yourself! Get back into it and join us!

Conga rats!
That's great to hear! You should be fine, enjoy the day knowing that you are the lightest you've been in... months, years ?

You have to be proud of yourself not matter what. You are, after all, below 240!

Re: Losing Weight with Andysutherland

Well, I've gravitated weighing in to Tuesdays by extending somewhere...

After this weekend, I'm happy with my results. Stayed even - no change.

I underwent a minor surgery on Friday afternoon, and spent the entire weekend sitting in the Lazyboy.
I went very easy one the food intake (avoiding the bathroom) for the most part, on Friday and Saturday. The first big meal and my only 'splurging' for the weekend was Saturday dinner - marinated steak tips, roasted red-skin potato wedges, and corn & asparagus mix (and I didn’t have to cook!!).

I knew if I wasn’t careful, I’d regret it – as I was stuck for the weekend. But all-in-all I am happy to have stayed even.

Looks like I'm screwed for this week. Sunday I'm eating like hell. White Castle burgers, ham (twice), and any other meat I can get a hold of. But that's ok, I can take a couple of days to celebrate and then get back on track.
Some alcohol too.

Re: Losing Weight with Andysutherland

I finally weighed in again yesterday. 141. Not great, but still down from my starting point. I'm working 4 tens now so that should help the cause.

Still climbing 3 times a week and will try to start walking in the evenings now that the snow is pretty well gone.

Re: Losing Weight with Andysutherland

So, I did get around to weighing in yesterday morning.

Every time I forget, it pushes my sequence off further and further.... it's just not a habit. :(

I made dinner Tuesday night, and dang, it was good. Couldn't figure out why, but it did taste better than usual. Of course, I had to have seconds.......

I've been doing better with that, and threatened the wife about getting 8" plates (which she did, not the 10" ones this time). I'm trying to get myself to drink while I eat to help fill me up.

None-the-less, I did weigh in. After being around the house (boredom munchies) Friday, the HUGE dinner on sunday, home again on Monday, and a double helping of Pasta on Tuesday (night before weigh in)....

Only 1 pound up! Talk about relieved! I was expecting a lot worse.

Re: Losing Weight with Andysutherland

It's Monday and vacation and celebrating are over. Great week for overindulgence. I know it wasn't healthy one bit, but I ate any and everything I wanted when I wanted it for the entire week from Easter Sunday till this past Sunday. I killed the barbecue buffets, triple whoppers, chicken fries, chinese buffets, White Castles, and a bottle of wine every day, sometimes two. I went from 238 to 246 in one week. Wow! I was trying my best to gain weight, but I didn't think I ate that much! Today starts the beginning of my return to WeightWatchers plan. Lent is over, the week of celebration is over, and I can get back to the plan. 8lb. gain in one week! Wow, just wow. But I expected to gain.

Breakfast: Nutrigrain Strawberry bar (2pts)
Lunch: Nutrigrain Strawberry bar (2pts)
Nature's Own Granola bar (4pts)
Dinner: Tonight will be beefloin, wild rice (ric-a-roni), and garlic potatoes (not sure on points yet)

Potential exercise: basketball in the driveway

Starscream 04-21-2009 06:26 AM

Re: Losing Weight with Andysutherland

This is going to be a short week. I'm weighing in on Wednesday (tomorrow). I'm down to 244 today, so maybe the extra two pounds was some water weight.

Today's meals:
Breakfast: water (0 pts)
Lunch: leftover beef tenderloin, rice, and potatoes (10 pts-ish?)
Dinner: Have no idea. Thinking about some tilapia, not sure how to prepare it today (tilapia is good and low in points).

Potential exercise: basketball
I did get in fifteen minutes of ball yesterday, but that's not much time.

Man, if only that were true for me........

So I remembered to pull the scale out this morning. And after the miserable weekend we had, and working from home on Monday, it didn't surprise me.

Up 1.4 :(

I really need to find a way to get an exercise bike.
I'm too frazzled, or too busy, to actually exercise. I figure that if I got the bike, I would at least have the option of watching TV and pedal pushing in the eves. At least it would be something.

Come to Ohio and I will trade ya my bike for a few cigars =p When I first started the program that is exactly what I did. Plopped down on the recumbent bike and rode for 45-60 minutes while I watched tv or played various xbox games.

I had a Gazelle that I used while watching tv. I didn't ever sweat while using it or get tired out. Figured it wasn't doing too much for me, so I sold it. It was fun to ride on though.
Kinda wish I still had it...

End of Week ResultsWeighed in at 243 today. Three pound loss in two days. Didn't get in any exercise yesterday, unlesss you count *ahem*... meanwhile...
Todays meals:
Breakfast - Oatmeal and coffee (3pts)
Lunch - Leftover tilapia and rice (5ish? pts)
Dinner - Not sure yet, but probably a 12" from Subway (turkey, ham, or roast beef) with chips (around the 17pt mark, I'll calculate it later).

Hopefully I'll be back in the 230s in the next week or two.

Starscream 04-23-2009 10:35 AM

Re: Losing Weight with Andysutherland

Todays meals:

Breakfast - coffee w/ cream (0.5pts)
Lunch - spinach artichoke nuggets (8pts)
Dinner - probably chicken and veggies of some sort (?pts)

No exercise yesterday as I was either at work, church, or completing an exam. I ate a little extra yesterday, some chips and queso dip, but I used portion control.

Todays exercise: hopefully some basketball this afternoon.

MorningStar Farms Veggie Bites: Spinach Artichoke.
It's in the frozen food isle at the grocery in the vegetarian section. I bought these for Lent, but after purchasing them I saw that they contained dairy and couldn't eat them. They look like chicken nuggets, but have spinach and artichoke mix in them rather than meat. They weren't great, but not bad.
