Re: Pumping Iron with Zemekone and Icehog3

So I've decided that I'm craving pizza way too bad, and I don't feel like wasting a cheat meal on it. I've found a recipe for whole wheat pizza dough (http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Amazing...st/Detail.aspx) and I'll be using the thin-crust variation to feed my craving tonight. I've decided I'll be using ham (Either brown sugar, or honey cured), balsamic marinated cipolline onions, fresh fat-free mozzarella, and most likely fresh basil and/or sundried tomatoes. Can any of you think of anything else that would be good to throw on this? I'm trying to keep it low fat, even with the higher carbs, but I also want to make sure there's plenty of good protein on there. I will most definitely be posting back with my results...

Any of you guys have any experiance with Muscletechs. NaNo Vapor. I have used some of their products before (luekic) and really liked it. They do great job marketing their products, any ideas whether this is a good product, or hype?

Re: Pumping Iron with Zemekone and Icehog3

Update 1: I'm letting the dough rise for the second time, and it's starting to look really good... I picked up the balsamic cipolline onions, mozzarella rolled up with sundried tomatoes (Only .5g less fat than the regular mozzerella so I figured I might as well enjoy it), about a quarter pound of honey-ham, a few paper thin sliced of prosciutto, some Italian turkey sausage, fresh cremini mushrooms, and a small bunch of fresh basil. I've got everything cut up and now I'm just waiting for the dough to finish it's second proof in about 35 minutes, and then it's 15 min in the oven until dinner. It feels good to cook again. I rarely have time to do it between school, work, and the gym.

Still wondering about this, and also whether I should take Taurine pre or post workout, Gerry. :)

It was fantastic. The dough wasn't quite fully cooked in the middle, but I also think it may have been a little overtopped, and I don't have a pizza stone, so that also adds complications in cooking time. I think next time I'll take it down to 400 degrees for 20-25 minutes instead of the 16-20 at 425 the instructions gave me. I think next time I'll also forgo the prosciutto (Delicious, but a bit too much salt/fat than I really want right now) and instead use some roasted red peppers, or something else that would be similarly sweet. I'll probably also use less toppings in general. It still would've been good without the Cremini mushrooms and olives, and it probably would've cooked better as well. I spent about $35-40 on ingredients, but that also included the cost of flour, yeast, dried oregano, a jar of roasted garlic, and sun dried tomatoes, so I really only spent about $15-20 on the cost of ingredients for one 14" pizza, and now I've got the base materials to make the dough 7-8 more times, if not even more than that. IMO, it was Well worth it for a pizza you're not going to find at Domino's, and much healthier as well. I was going to have a 2 pieces before the gym, 2 after, and leave one for each of the roommates, but I ended up eating 6 of 8 pieces for dinner, and I'm gonna call this a night off... Tomorrow's shoulders and tris though!

On a side-note, my phone camera makes this pizza look like an oil painting.

Re: Pumping Iron with Zemekone and Icehog3

Back to lifting today -- decided to start back on a West Side-ish routine, again. Speed legs today: 10 x 2 box squat below parallel at 225 (it was actually 4 x 3, 4 x 2; but it's same reps at 10 x 2). Also did 3 x 10 pullthroughs @ 200, 4 x 12-15 cable rope crunches @ 200, 3 x 6 db rows @ 90, and 3 x 10 shrugs @ 225 (light because my right shoulder was bothering me). I soooo hadn't eaten for this yesterday. :r

Off to the witch doctor in a bit for another adjustment. I fear this will become a weekly activity, which may not be bad ... it's just another expense to which I was not looking forward. :hn

Placed a new order for protein yesterday. Decided to get some ON Pro Complex for PWO shakes, finally (rocky road, of course) and some vanilla 100% whey for the versatility (i.e., mixing into oatmeal, adding to a Blizzard ... you know, the usual :r).

I need to get back on a regular clean eating routine, too. I'm also thinking about going into the gym twice a day -- cardio in the morning and lifting at night. Pretty sure Dr. MRS would kill me if I started; but that might have to be an acceptable risk. :p

OK ... I'm done rambling. :r :D :ze

Good luck at the witch doc, Dokk! :D

Off to hit the gym shortly, I am taking Wed and Thur off due to training at work, so I will try to hit it hard today and tomorrow.

Gerry....you're slacking in the advice column, Bro. ;) :r

Glad to see everyones doing well.

I went back to the gym today, speed benching, db incline and a series of different types of pull ups. (wide grip overhand, close grip underhand etc.)

Dokk when I do two a days my appetite goes through the roof. Usually about 8000 cal and I shoot for 300+grams of protein. If you are going to do this I suggest varying your cardio in the mornings so its not just running, I would add biking, swimming if possible, eliptical, and rowing. I think Running everyday plus lifting is too much high impact activity on the body

I was told the flavor was awful, but that the results were good by someone at my gym. I would deal with the taste if it worked like WF.

Thanks Bro! Now, do I take the Taurine pre or post workout? :D

as for taste that reminds me of VPX NO Shotgun tasted like regurgitated apple pie but the results at the gym were great.

Sounds good, bro.

I, on the other hand, am a broken little unicorn. :( Once the popping in my right shoulder went away, I did 5 x 5 on the clock on flat bench. Skull crushers were fine. Went to do standing overhead presses and my right shoulder was a mess on rep one. Oy. Went and did some tricep pressdowns and called it a day.

I really need to figure out this shoulder thing. So here's my question to you sporty folks:

How would I go about finding a good sports doctor who (a) can effectively diagnose my problem and (b) will understand that I won't give up lifting in the long-run???

I don't have an answer for you; but this reminds me of my favorite weightlifting quotation. In an interview, Ed Coan was asked, "YOU DON'T TRAIN MUSCLES LIKE BICEPS?"

And his response was, "Nope, biceps are like ornaments on a xmas tree." :r

I dont train biceps that often, but when I do I only superset stuff together. I get extreme pump. This is good because I can spend more time on the muscles that count!:r
