Skipped the gym today, too many high ABV beers and Black Russians on the hockey team outing to the Blackhawks game last night. Will either double it up after court tomorrow morning or train on my schedued off day on Tuesday. Feel like a slug this morning. :r

I did 10x10 the other week. That was insane. My legs were shot for at least 3 days. I think I spent a good 45 min just on the squat rack.

Skipped another day, but it's OK. I have 3 games in 4 nights, and will be hitting the gym 3 of those 4, so one extra day off won't kill me.

Better day tomorrow, Huy. :tu

Nothing wrong with an extra day of rest Tom. You'll probably kill those weights today:D

In the garage this morning:

Standing reverse curls x5/8reps
Standing bicep curls x5/8reps

Standing french press x5/8reps
Standing upright row x5/8reps
Standing press x5/8reps

Although I don't know about the rest of you, I really enjoy having some music rocking out while working out. It appears that my daughter transferred my radio out onto the patio and didn't return it last night. Gotta have the music going you know?:ze

Working out just isn't the same for me without some Rock'n'Roll, Mark, I am with ya. My iPod finally crapped out after 7 years last week, and the two days before I replaced it, listening to the Top 40 at the gym, were brutal. :r

Gyms don't rock the music that loud that now that everyone has ipod.

Ouch!:D...I think Top 40 is basically a PsyOps conspiracy tool put into place by the Illuminati myself;)

Was up early this morning, so went in and did shoulders and upper back. Was out in Hana with my wife over the weekend, so just catching up.

My poor wife was up most of the night due to miss communication or a lack of between family in Thailand and Korean airlines. We put my mother in law on a plane back to Thailand yesterday and she didn't show up when she was scheduled. Flight was delayed, but some how they kept telling my wife the flight had arrived on time. Mom finally made and met up with family, all good.

Glad to hear it, Jay.

Do you guys go to Planet Fitness? They had a special, start for $1, then $10 a month. It's less than a mile from our Apartment, so we figured why not. They're all about Judgement free and ****, which I don't care about. If I can't get as much weight as someone else, who cares? If I went to the Gym with Tom, I'm sure he'd blow me away weight wise, but I wouldn't feel bad about myself for it...

When we've gone, we get stared at constantly. It's really f'in weird. We'll be doing something normal like Squats, stared at. We'll do Burpees off to the side, get stared at. It's like we have a dick hanging off our foreheads... Then you can't make ANY noise. No grunting. I'm all for nobody screaming. But if you're doing like 15 burpees, and you're struggling, I'm going to make a little bit of noise. They have something called a "lunk" alarm, which goes off if you're making too much noise, or dropping weight... Seems like a Gym for self conscience pussies.

Personally, I love it when I'm at the cable system and the guy next to me lets the plates slam down making my ear ring for a few seconds. I agree, there is often SOME necessary grunting involved in weight training. Disciplined breathing through to the last rep usually minimizes it though.:2

Re: Pumping Iron with Zemekone and Icehog3

We've seen them talk to people who are just breathing heavy in a normal manner. They were benching a **** ton, and had a normal breathing pattern. The weight slamming I do understand.

Re: Pumping Iron with Zemekone and Icehog3

I've never been inside a Planet Fitness, brian.

The days of the hardcore gyms are just about over. The gym I train at now tries to cater to the "fitness" crowd, with tons of cardio machines and personal trainers preaching exercises that seem foreign to us dinosaurs.

Luckily the gym has enough hardcore stuff to keep the lifters happy, and none of us could care less what the others lift, we just help each other to improve. I lift with guys who bench anywhere from 135 to 595, from ages 18 to 65, and we're all supportive and cool to each other.

I grew up when a gym was weights, a heavy bag and a drinking fountain, and the fountain didn't work 1/2 the time. We wore funny looking baggy pants and lifted Volkswagons, and we liked it that way. AC/DC and other 3 chord hard rock blasted through the speakers, and after the workout we would go to Burger King and have 4 bacon doublecheeseburgers each. I kinda miss those days...I definitely miss that metabolism. :lr

This is the Lunk Alarm, purposely set off

Gyms as a whole need to calm down on the stereotype I think. I don't know, maybe it's just me. Planet Fitness is a joke. They have a "Free Pizza day" on Fridays.

Here here! :tu

There's no energy in the weight area in gyms now. No chalk in the air or plates clanking. Seeing people go for max and just show some enthusiasm before their set. Actually, I have fallen out of favor of weightlifting as it is dull at the gym. It's hard to get excited when no one else is.

Pilates is most of gym time and a good use of it.
