Re: Losing Weight with Andysutherland

Very disappointing week considering how much cardio I put in. I was only down 1.4 lbs this week, but did pretty lousy on Sunday/Monday. Had a cookout on Sunday and just couldn't help myself from getting a burger, brat, and a dog. :( Yesterday was a challenge of sorts being on the road and having to eat out for 2 meals.

I've got to cut 13.4 lbs in 18 days if I'm going to make my goal before we go on vacation. I figure the last 11 days worth, I'll probably put in 3-3.5 hours/day split over 2 sessions each day if I'm going to have a chance to make it.

Down 1.4 isn't dissapointing. Anytime a loss occurs it's a good thing.

It's disappointing in the sense that I was hoping for twice that. I'll just have to work that much harder this week on my intake and get in 90+ minutes cardio/day over the next week.

Missed the update yesterday... had a decent 2 weeks
Weighed in at 274.0 so a 5.4 lb loss for the weeks... Workouts are starting hot and heavy now as I can see the hill and the other side of 1/2 way mark.

As a recap:

Starting weight - 311.3 lbs
Weighed in - 274.0 lbs
Total loss - 37.3 lbs

Hey Andy.....
So I found this rope lying around, and used it to pull myself back on-the-wagon.
And now I’ve found my way back here! (I have some catching up to do! I think I’ll only read the last week or so....)

I'm back on the wagon, 1 week already.
Smaller meals, smaller intervals; a dose of Weight Watchers as well.....

The long story will come in another post shortly.

Can I borrow some of that rope? I weighed in for the first time since May or June and I'm at 271! That's the highest I've ever been. I feel like sh!t most days too. I'm gonna drown myself in my sorrows and alcohol tonight and grab the rope tomorrow. I have to make some decisions about what kind of regiment I want to do, both exercise and dietary. WW worked for me years ago, low carb hasn't done too much for me, and just counting calories with nutrimirror doesn't seem to do too much either. Maybe I'll go back to WW. I haven't been to the gym in 6mos. and my membership ran out. Maybe I'll just stick to home workouts, running, cardio, Wii Fit, etc...

Jesus Christ I knew I was getting bigger but I didn't know I was a fat ass...:td

@andysutherland: the problem with working out at home is that is so easy to skip a workout. i think kettlebells could be a good option for you.
i love chicken breast (tons of variety) and protein shakes (i use them as reward after working out ).
i dont like diets because most people do them for a couple of months, then quit + are suprised that they gained weight. i cheated myself on diets all the time. now i just eat what i want and if i didnt loose weight i eat healthier the next weeks + put more workouts in.

That, I agree with. But Weight Watchers (WW) is a learnign guide, to better understanding what and how much food you take in. It starts as a diet, but helps to develop better habits.

We stopped eating regularly, and controlling our portion size, and I'm back where I started... that's not true, I'm worse.

I'm too comfortable saying "I've lost weight, but it found me and brought friends."

We're back to paying attention, and we're already showing progress.

The word diet has been distorted in today's society. We are always on a diet. A diet techinically is what we eat on an everyday basis (a dumbed down definition). When someone goes on a "diet" they really mean that they are changing their diet for a short time.

Re: Losing Weight with Andysutherland

I have been away from this thread for a while. Ok I have been away from the board awhile.

My goal was to hit 215lbs and I accomplished that in June of this year. I was 212lbs and 14.5% body fat when I did a 226km bike ride. I was and am in pretty good shape now. I have put approximately 10lbs back on, some of that intentionally and some just good living over the summer.

I have kept my exercise up somewhat over the summer but now is time to get back at it. I want to put on some muscle weight and bring up my metabolism so that I can eat a broader range of calories and not worry about gaining weight.

Here is where I stared.

December 25th 2009 293 lbs.

http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/g...s2009-14-1.jpg

July 28th 215lbs doing something I haven't done in 20years.

http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/g...rfox67/Ski.jpg

Now I am cranking it back up again. Good eating combined with intense cardio, lifting and plyometrics. The goal is to put 15 to 20 good pounds (muscle) back on by Christmas.

Let me know how you are all doing out there................Where is Andy at ?

It's great to hear from you, Shawn! Awesome to hear you made your goal and in a very short period of time. Keep up the good work.:tu

I fell off the wagon over the summer but am working on getting back to 250 (which was my pre-summer weight). Once I get down to that weight, my next goal is 225.

It's about time you came back!;):)

Great thread, I did the math a couple days ago and realized I turn 30 sixteen weeks from tomorrow. I'd like to lose 3lbs a week until I turn 30. That's really just a start but it would be a great one.

I'll focus on eating whole foods, lots of fruit, veggies, and lean protein. Exercise will include walking, working up to running, sit ups and push ups. I hate gyms and don't have room in the apt for weights.

Maybe run a contest here to motivate myself :D Looking forward to this change! It's so motivating to see others who have made a big change here!!

Hey gang.
Fell off the wagon for a few days as we were 'vacationing' at Foxwoods.
- Fuddruckers for Dinner
- Festival Buffet for Breakfast (was reasonable)
- Hard Rock for Dinner (Granny Apple Burger)

Supplemented with a lot of walking, a 20 minute lifecycle bike 'ride' one morning, some walking, a swim in the pool and jac-a-ruzi, some walking...

Did I tell you that we did some walking????

Okay. Here it is.
1 month since starting to work on our eating (a.k.a. dieting)

Down 9.4, up 1.4 :(, down 1.6, down 2.8, down 1.4
All together, down 13.8!

I've been doing salads for breakfast lately, a great way to start the day. Tons of greens, hard boiled egg, chicken, veggies, fruits, nuts, leftovers, etc. Fills me up until lunch and is quick and easy.

Congrats on the 1st month Dan, down almost 14lbs in one month is great!

I'm still hangin around 220 something.
I haven't been doing much of anything, dietwise. I'm starting at least two new medications this month, and this neuro thing won't tolerate exercise.
It's easy to lose/watch my weight when I feel good, but pretty much impossible when I don't.
I have started back to drinking lots of water, that helps with both the weight and my overall health. I think it washes all the pill poison out of me. :tu

Well. Only down .2 today.

But it is down and not up! :tu

Seemed like a slow weekend, so I figured things weren't going to look great. Spent two days standing around watching and doing a little leg-work on the ground as my buddies stripped and reshingled a roof.

Come on in! The water's nice and warm.:)

Today is my weekly weigh-in date. 265lbs. That's a total loss of 12lbs in two weeks. I didn't get in any exercise b/c of my sh!tty schedule but my dietary habits were spot on for the most part.

What's everyone else up to (or down to I should say)?

Back on my veggie and protien only cut diet. Headaches from lack of carbs stopped at 4 days. Already down a few pounds. Just didnt like running at 182. Need to get down to 168ish. Will document how long it takes. 176ish now. Not running as kind of hurt my foot and running so much.

Diet sucks boring as hell and wife says I have been a moody bish at the end of the day, but it works.
Todays breakfast eggs, spinach, salsa, cheese omlet. A little milk for 20 carbs.

Well its good news for week 1 - down 2.2 kilos or about 5 lbs.

I am happy though I know its easy the first couple weeks.

Had a sub and chips for lunch and a couple tacos for dinner - sounds like a lot but not bad for me...

Good luck to all and I will check in next week hopefully with a few more pounds off the total!

Alrighty then!
I just realized that I forgot to drop in last week after weigh-in.

I've noticed that when I 'check in' on myself on Tuesdays, I'm always lighter than my Wednesday weigh-in.
(No, I'm not changing just to make it look better..........)

Last week:
Down another 1.2 as official :tu
I was smack-dab at the Hundreds mark on Tuesday and was hoping to break passed it. Missed it by that much.
Came in exactly at the 01 mark.

~~~~~~~~~~~~
This week;
I was below 99 on Tueday morning, and was hoping for the best.
And this morning: http://www.rolandchayer.com/TheVanKa...RollSmiley.gif
Down 1.6 officially! :wo
I am officially below the first Hundred mark! http://serve.mysmiley.net/party/party0010.gif My first Step-goal! http://serve.mysmiley.net/party/party0010.gif
I just keep getting fatter and fatter.
I'm changing my whole diet again, and that'll help. I'm never home, always traveling, and that makes keeping a decent diet almost impossible.
I'm changing meds yet again, and hat always takes toll, cause it lays me out and I get no exercise at all.
I've been really pushing to raise my activity level, doing all sorts of stuff I'm not supposed to do, and I feel a lot better. It's taking a major toll on my back though.
Fortunately I see a new doctor soon to try and get that managed.
It's looking up!!! :tu
Re: Losing Weight with Andysutherland
This morning weighed in at 170, but that was before breakfast and I have been weighing with pants so I would say closer 172. 4lb drop from last week to this week. Not bad not great. I started running again so that helped because I had a few days of eating not so clean. Probably would have hit 6 pounds if I had kept the hardcore paleo/ modified keto diet going. Looks like I should break into the upper 160s by next week.
Scott I know it sucks eating clean when traveling but there are lots of little things you can do. I work patrol and even have a system for eating at fastfood places with minimal damage.
Weigh in today was at 263, a loss of 2 lbs. for the week. Not bad, but if I had tried, I could have done much better. It was a lazy week. Camping trip coming up this weekend for my anniversary. I'll probably not eat that great, but will get in some exercise to make up for it.
