Re: I have finally found a vodka I like.
I spent about 6 months Warsaw, Poland. Fell in love with a woman and many vodkas. My favorite was from a small distillery. English translation was "Arther's Castle" made in Krakow. It was very expensive. In fact the most expensive my Polish friends had seen at almost $12 US. They all raved about it.
Polish potato vodka goes well with every thing. Cigars, caviar and salmon tartar. Beautiful stuff, smooth, clean with a hint of pepper at the back of the throat that cleanses the pallet while making the mouth water. Good chiller potato vodka needs something else to really shine. Try it. |

Re: I have finally found a vodka I like.
I must agree with Icehog3 to each his own!
Grey Goose, Opulent, 3 Olive, Ketel One, and so on are all designer Vodkas. That's not to say that they're bad, hell no, in fact Ketel One is one of my top favs, but they are creations of the modern age. For a true classic, time honored Vodka it's hard to beat Stolichnaya Gold or even the standard version! I love the gold! :tu |
Re: I have finally found a vodka I like.
I dont have a whole lot of experience with vodka but I can say I dont like Smirnoff anymore. Ive only tried Gray Goose Vanilla cause that what the girls were drinkin ;) and it wasnt bad but I dont like my vodka flavored like vanilla. The ones I do like are Skyy, Kettle One, and this cheap stuff called Alpine Blu which was soo good cold it was like drinkin water
|
Re: I have finally found a vodka I like.
I didn't like the old smirnoff, but now that their cheapy line is triple distilled, i don't mind it
|
Re: I have finally found a vodka I like.
Ciroc is my favorite vodka. Hands down.
|
Re: I have finally found a vodka I like.
I like Finlandia a lot. Drank a fifth one time...oops!
|
Re: I have finally found a vodka I like.
I don't think this one has been mentioned and it's a real winner in my book. Yes, it's one of the newer designer Vodkas but it is truly amazing.
Reyka which make in Iceland! |
Re: I have finally found a vodka I like.
Although I don't care for Grey Goose, one of the most unique and best tasting Vodkas I have had is Jean Marc XO. Very different, a delicious sipping vodka that provides a nice change of pace.
I just pretend it isn't French when I drink it. ;) :r |

Re: I have finally found a vodka I like.
hold on, did you try the good Russian Standard? I admit the regular stuff is crap, but the premium one is good. I think it's called Russian Standard Imperial or something like that.
|
Re: I have finally found a vodka I like.
My favorite has gotta be Reyka. After that it would be Ciroc then Chopin.

Re: I have finally found a vodka I like.

Re: I have finally found a vodka I like.
I heard Svedka is as good as any top shelf vodka out there and 5 times distilled.
I bought a 1.5 today on sale for $17.99. Perhaps I'll have a nip before bed. Tom, Super Low Foods on Nerge has this deal in their ad. The display doesn't have a sign but it scans $17.99. They also Have Lt. Dan's Rum, similar to Morgan at about half the price. It's very smooth and and easy to drink striaght. If your interested that is... |

Now, if you hear of any deals on some Ron Zacapa... ;) :dr |
Re: I have finally found a vodka I like.
I had my nip of Svedka very smooth but like a previous post, a hint of rubbing alcohol.
The only Zacapa I've seen lately is in my own cabinet. |
Re: I have finally found a vodka I like.
If anyone in MI is looking for Sobieski, they have it for 20 bucks at Costco for a half gallon. Great price and it is a really good vodka don't let the price fool you.

Heres my go to crew.....
http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...3/DSC_2417.jpg Stoli for mixing, Goose for shooting, and Jean Marc XO for sipping It was funny, when you start to drink alot of vodka (college) you really can pick out the differences in the vodka. Well we would have the snotty girls that would only drink "grey goose" even in mixed drinks. They never asked why we had two bottles of goose in the freezer at all times. One was actually goose and the other was filled with Pinnacle... aptly named Pinnagoose. It was priceless to see those girls take a sip or shot and lick there lips and say "God, I love grey goose". To which all of us would always look at each other with those "I bet you do" eyes. |
Re: I have finally found a vodka I like.
Love the bookend bottles, Chance! :tu
|
Re: I have finally found a vodka I like.
I'm not a big vodka drinker. I prefer the brown elixirs, but do keep a bottle of Ciroc on hand for the occasional martini. One that I have been meaning to try is a local production:
Vodka 14 It's not too high on the spirit sampling priority list, but I'll eventually get to it. |
Re: I have finally found a vodka I like.
I love Stoli!
Stoli, Stoli, Stoli! Sooooooo good going down with a splash of Sprite! |
Re: I have finally found a vodka I like.
Luksusowa FTW!!!
I cannot say this enough, For the price, this is a Powerhouse TRUE Potato vodka |

True North. It is an amazingly delicious rye vodka. They also have a wheat vodka for $20ish which is great, but I prefer rye vodkas. www.grandtraversedistillery.com

Going to have to agree with everyone else that Grey Goose is nothing more than barely passable vodka wrapped in massive marketing hype stemming mainly from wannabe ballers and kids that think drinking alcohol begins and ends with JagerBombs. Thank you MTV Cribs for providing the world with yet another high class service :td Absolut, Stoli, Smirnoff, Finlandia, Russian Prince, etc. are all no better than lighter fluid and completely undrinkable unless I'm already REALLY REALLY drunk first. For those of you that haven't watched Wodka Wars yet, it's well worth the half hour! |
