Re: Losing Weight with Andysutherland
Well mark that as a really crappy finish to the week. I managed to gain almost 8 lbs.
I think I must be retaining water. Could it be that time of the month again already? On a positive note, I tried on the suit I got married in 9 years ago and it still fit. The pants were just a touch snug and the jacket was just a little tight in the shoulders. Still passable though, as long as this "water" comes back off again soon. |

Great website to track dietary habits and exercise and it's absolutely free. If you like it give BORIStheBlade some rep. He's the one who found it.
The food log is awesome! They have a huge database. You type in the food and it counts the nutritional info for you. http://www.cigarasylum.com/vb/showpo...59&postcount=1 |

Re: Losing Weight with Andysutherland
I'm going to jump into the mix...I've been a yo-yo guy since college in the mid-90's. I've tried Weight Watchers and Atkins and had success with both, but after awhile, lost interest.
I'm now 35 and was diagnosed with spinal stenosis in my lower back. I have 2 vertebrae with spurs that has compressed a disc against my lower spine which I will undergo surgery to fix that. It causes some numbness/tingling in my legs from time to time that I just attributed to being out of shape. The risk of doing nothing eventually leads to the function decreasing over time and once I lose something, it's not likely that I would ever recover from that. I'm hoping to get the surgery done with by the end of the month. As the doctor said, any additional pressure I can take off by losing my gut, the better off I'll be. Anyway, I'm going to be doing Weight Watchers for this in addition to doing spinning classes at LA Fitness 6 times/week. I was doing the class regularly and then got out of the fold, particularly when I lost my job in July. Weight Watchers has an iPhone application that I just downloaded, so there's no excuse for me venturing off my plan. Anyway, I'm starting on the plan tomorrow morning and will give this thing a go. Starting weight: 238.4 Goal weight: 180 |
Re: Losing Weight with Andysutherland
190.2.
Still can't break that 190 barrier. That was only .4 pounds in five days. It's been 1.6 pounds a week for months. I really do think I've run out of fat. I've slowly started eating a bit more, too, with my change in meds. I'm leaving for Ohio today to hang out with Lisa for a few days, she'll make me eat. |
Re: Losing Weight with Andysutherland
Iv been stuck on the same 8lbs. I loose 8 I gain 8 :td

Re: Losing Weight with Andysutherland
I started on a new healty diet about 3 weeks ago, as I needed to lose 37.84lbs before the surgeon would consider a gastric bypass. Since I started to eat more balanced and just a little less I lost 20.24lbs. All my nutrician did was make me have breakfast again, with low fat/low calorie toppings, low fat & calorie dinners and normal sized portions.
I also started to move a little more, I walk the dog of friends of mine two or three times a week for 90 minutes at a time, that's my exercise. I already feel a lot better due to the healthier food and the extra exercise. |

Been under 2000 calories for three days straight. Today was a low fat day as well. It feels good to get back on track again.

Re: Losing Weight with Andysutherland
I guess last week was a bit of an anomaly. Back down over 6 lbs.
Going diving tomorrow, so that should help a bit. |

What I don't get about Weight Watchers is that they don't make a different weight range for men and women. It's the same for both.

I'm making chicken alfredo for supper. Maybe some shrimp for me. :D

Re: Losing Weight with Andysutherland
Sounds good, Ian. I love both chicken alfredo and shrimp. And shrimp is low in fat and calories. I think I am skipping supper after all of the above that I posted.:D

A big eating day will stay with you for a day or so sometimes. Hopefully I won't be hungry later.

With that said, it's very hard no matter what you use to gain muscle and lose fat. I'm not knocking WW at all, as it has been very beneficial to me in the past. It's just not what I need at this point in my life. I would recommend WW to anyone who is thinking about using it. |
Re: Losing Weight with Andysutherland
Weighed in at 254 today. Tomorrow is the weekly weigh in. Hope to be at at least 253. That will give me a three pound loss for the week.

Re: Losing Weight with Andysutherland
I actually saw 189.6 yesterday. Today I'm at 191.0.
I started going to the tanning booth a couple weeks ago cause I don't make vitamin D. It really screws me up, and I generally go a couple times a week all winter. I figure my tan must weigh at least five pounds. I'm gonna have to start calculating that in. :D |
Re: Losing Weight with Andysutherland
Down to 251 today! Five pounds off for the week.

Re: Losing Weight with Andysutherland
Had my first weigh in this morning. Down 4.9 lbs to 233.5.
I need to get a better set of scales. The set I have now isn't great at repeating, so I'm really using an average after stepping on/off a few times. Earlier this morning, it even literally crept up well over a pound after I thought it had stopped. |

Re: Losing Weight with Andysutherland
Still stuck at 190.2.
I've seen the 189 a few times, but it doesn't stick around long. :) The good thing is that I can eat whatever I want and I stay right at 190. I still don't have any desire to eat, but Lisa keeps dragging me around good food. My daughter has been here all month, and I have to cook for her most days, so I at least get opportunity to eat real food. That's good, too. :tu |
Re: Losing Weight with Andysutherland
finally off prednisone and back to eating better. CMONNNNN fat, get off me
|
Re: Losing Weight with Andysutherland
Thanks, Vic.:tu
Keep on trying, Scott. You'll break the 190 barrier sooner than later.:tu Sounds good, Myles.:tu |
