Cubs seem to have our number, as we lose tonight 7-4. deGrom gets another hit, but his issue is that he gives up the long ball way to often.

His issue is that he plays for the Mets. ;s
Terry Collins should find out if he can play the field to get his bat in the linup!
Before last night's game, I think he only had 8 runs of support in his 4 starts.

Hard to blame the bullpen when the Mets could only muster 6 hits over 13 innings, and had the bases loaded with one out in the 11th.
At some point you have to score if you want to win. :2
How long do you want the bullpen to hold them off?
Dave128

These guys can't hit for ****. The game was handed to them in the 11th and they basically said "no thank you". This is getting very frustrating.

Blaming the bullpen?
Do you watch these games?
There were 3 errors in the 8th, including one throw away that was a sure double play!
When your infield can't turn a double play, your outfielder can't field a ball cleanly, and the first baseman can't handle a chopper, all in the same inning, you can't lay that on the bullpen!
BTW, I'm not saying the bullpen doesn't suck....it does! :D

The Mets had no other excuse other than they sucked yesterday and blew a 3-0 lead. If we can get our starters to the 8th inning and then try to get through the 9th with no issues, we have a shot at winning. Otherwise, this:

Mets play see-saw with the Marlins all day before p*ssing away the lead and losing 9-6. Half game outta the cellar again.

Mets beat the Nats tonight, 4-3. Move into a tie for 3rd place in the NL East with the Marlins at 72-76. A .500 season this year would be a HUGE success.

Yeah I could say the same about Curtis Granderson.

A .500 season this year would be a HUGE success.
Here's the question though, do you want a .500 season?
As a fan, the obvious answer is yes.
But will the Mets finishing strong, coming in at .500 or above, convince Sandy and the Wilpons that they are close, and therefore not make any major additions?
Sandy thought this was a 90 win team. If they finish with 81 or 82, I can see him rationalizing the return of Harvey, Duda's emergence, D'arnaud's second half, and Mejia in the bullpen from the start, are enough to get them to the playoffs.
If I were a Met fan, I would be rooting for the wheels to come off, and to slide back down in the standings. The last thing you want to do is give Sandy and the Wilpons a reason to spend less money!

Dom has a point. His point would be better if the Mets had had any wheels ON to come OFF lately (see the Rod Sux, e.g.), but who are we Yankee fans to talk?
kelmac07

Regardless of how they finish the season...the Wilpons will not spend. Over the past five years (besides Wright & Granderson) who have they spent a significant amount of money on?

Thomas, I don't consider $ 20 million for 2 years significant money, at least not in MLB figures. :2

Touche' on the Bobby Bo contract. He's like the third highest paid Met this year. :r :r :r

Mets lose to the Marlins last night, 6-5. deGrom ties the MLB record by striking out the first eight batters he faced, and ended up with 13 and still gets a no decision. Gotta love the bullpen!! I see another September meltdown coming. So much for a .500 season.

Mets beat the Braves this afternoon, 10-2...sweep the series. deGrom pitches another gem...making the decision for NL Rookie of The Year an even tougher one. And we are now 1/2 game out of SECOND place in the NL East with 6 games left to play. :tu :tu

Good news, Sandy just got a contract extension through 2017.
There were still 7 teams that the Mets outspent. The next three years will allow Sandy to get them to the lowest payroll in the league. :noon
Terry Collins will be back next year too.
Can Harvey pitch every day?

Not with two left against the Nats. For whatever reason, they've had our number the past two years. I would LOVE a .500 season.

Mets beat the Astros this afternoon, 8-3. In doing so, we finish the season 79-83. Tied for SECOND place in the NL East. Far more successful a season that I thought we'd have. To cap it off, a Rookie of The Year for deGrom would be nice. :tu :tu
