Official PAC 12 Football Thread 2012

This is the official PAC 12 football thread. I am a PAC 12 supporter. Even for USC when they are playing the SEC. It's down to the PAC 12, Big 12 and SEC this year for the natty. Oregon & USC will be the 2 biggies but Stanford, Cal, UW and Utah will win some decent bowl games. New coaches Rich Rodriguez, Mike Leach and Jm Mora should bring their teams along. top to bottom the PAC is pretty solid and should give the SEC & Big 12 a run for their money as the best conference. :banger

Im a huge fan and alum of Oklahoma St. so I'm a fan or the Big XII - 2, but I really enjoy watching PAC 12 football over boring SEC & Big 10 games. I will watch any game that's on though.

I think USC wins PAC 12 this year due to their returning players. Barkley is probably going to be the #1 pick next year. Oregon looks strong as usual, Stanford will be down from last year (easy prediction).

I'm interested to see what Mike Leach is going to due at WSU. If anyone can turn that program around it's him IMO. He will recruit big time speed out of California and build around that. I always thought Leach is an excellent offensive minded coach; however, his teams always SUCK on the defensive side of the ball. I think it's due to the fact that they never practice against a running offense.

Anyways definitely looking forward to this year :)

10 days out from the Utes taking the field....this week they start regular practice and gamplanning. Starting QB, Jordan Wynn has not thrown balls the last 3 practices.... Hopefully his arm is good today....I think the Utes are better with him as their starter.

That said, I would feel confident with Hays or Wilson behind center. Word is that the kid Schulz has been playing very well.... Stable of very good running backs to take the load.

....and the career of being the starting QB since he was a true freshman, Isover for J. Wynn.... He started with such promise that freshman year, concluding with a bowl win over the Cal Bears....then could never stay healthy. Now a Jr....he has decided, after getting his shoulder banged up again Saturday, he is done playing football.

Too bad, thanks for the memories J. Wynn & best of luck for your future.

Last year Utah was in this same place 2-2(1-2 against FBS opponents). Their FBS opponents; BYU(10-3), USC(10-2) and Washington(7-6). The Utes were averaging 404 yards of offense and 23 points a game. You would think that a schedule that was close to equal, many may consider it a bit easier(Utah State for USC, Washington and ASU being even), Utah is averaging 282 yards of offense and 15 points a game.... SIGNIFICANT drop off and playing with 9 returning starters on offense(granted, John White did not play against BYU, but that was a win and they were only 13 yards off their best offensive production of the year).

I'm going to give you 2 guesses - what is the significant difference in the 2012 team, from the 2012 team?


** I consider Jon Hays a starter, as he started 9 games last year and won a bowl game as their starter.

What a nightmare of a year..... Wouldn't have guessed this in a "worst case scenario" prediction....

I questioned openly the Utes hire of a then, 24 year old offensive coordinator.... I guess I just didn't know their offense would(could?) be this bad....

Just some FUN Sunday morning stats for everyone... Want to know how bad our scoring is this year, our defense has scored 20% of our total points for the year. If you take out the 28 points(giving them the PATs as well) and the points against the FCS school, that 20 points a game that ranks them 107 out of 120 FBS teams, is really 13 points a game that the Utah offense is really putting on the board against quality opponents.

Here is to having 25 year old kids with 2 years of coaching experience to run your offense.....

Good for the Ducks and their fans.... I would love to see a ND vs Oregon Championship Game.... For some reason, KSU has absolutely no appeal to me.

I sort of laughed when the announcers were saying that the Alabama D was gassed and kept having to tap out of the game.... Would be interesting to see them against Oregon.

What an EPIC MELTDOWN of a season for Utah....no other way to describe it.....utter failure from the top down. They took a stacked team that was picked to contend for a South Division Championship and chit the bed so bad, they are not even going to get a crappy bowl bid.
