• I call the New NHL game “go-kart hockey’’ - full of speed and lacking in puck control and playmaking. Hate to say this as my hatred is well documented, but while this is applicable to most teams , it doesnt apply to the red wings. watched most of yesterdays game. From what I have heard they run the team first class down there.

We actually just assigned a goalie to Toledo and he won player of the week last week with 4 wins, a 1.93 GAA and .941 SV%.

I could very well argue that they have been done since the day that ESPN had them number 1 in their power rankings. They have been dreadful. There has been quite a bit of discussion as to why they don't put Harding in for the shootouts instead of Backstrom who is awful in the shootout. He has a .462 save percentage in shootouts. Brutal.

Freak injury blocked shot rode up stick and hit him in throat. Tried to stay on bench but realized couldnt. Game going as expected. Sharks for the first year in a while look deep enough, but dont play that way. Looking like they will limp in to playoffs and get bounced in the second round.

Too bad, I really like Murray. Relatively weak skater who makes up by doing everything at 110% and using his huge frame as an advantage.

Yup my sons best friend who he has played with for three years now is nicknamed little murray. Not a great skater, not fast, but has become a smart player who uses his size and stick well. Its hard to dislike murray. Not a dirty player, just works hard and uses hus assets.

Ah you poor Oil fans. I will say that I love Eberle. That guy is already awesome and going to get better. I really think that if you get a good goalie (Kabby started playing lights out but the law of averages caught up), traded Hemmer for a good defender and a pick and added one more top 4 defender you could be real scary. This is coming from a Cow town fan.

On another note: Edson!? My grandparents lived 20-30 mins north of Edson when I was young. We used to go into the "big city" on occasion from the farm. Loved it out there when I was young. What are you doing out there? Oil?

sorry about that...i usually keep my frustration pretty well bottled up...its just that i had just watched the oilers loose again to the canucks no less...and kind of snapped. :hm ...i have been focusing on barker the last few weeks...what a sh!tty defencman...such a weak defencman he makes sutton look bad too.

if a streak of bad years piles up like it has for the oilers...i believe...that managment is to blame not the players...kevin lowe may have been a good hockey player but he sucks as a hockey administrator...time to start firing managment starting at the top.

was working for an oil company for 30 years...now i work for my wife as a general handyman.i love edson and this part of the world...1 1/2 hours to edmonton and 1 1/2 hours to jasper...best of both worlds.too bad the winters stretch from nov to april...i am happy to trade the snow for solitude tho...nearest heighbour is 1/2 mile away...i have enough land and house is situated so that no matter where anyone builds i will never have anybody looking in my livingroom window.

No need to apologize, Derrek. We all get frustrated with extended periods of poor team play. I have suffered with that in almost every one of my favorite teams in the sports I follow. This time of year, I'm always wondering what the GM's will pull out of their hat. I lost confidence in Craig Patrick at the end, but yea, Shero seems to really have a feel for getting the exact pieces they need.


I'm also always hopeful that Columbus will do something right but they just seem to be a whipping boy of the NHL. And I don't think it will get better any time soon. Carter is now gone, Vermette is gone and most likely Nash will be gone. It's gonna suck there for a while :)

Not sure they will last that long there in Ohio. I hear the attendance is horrible. Who could blame them with one playoff appearance in franchise history to which they got swept. Nash is going to get them a very nice return I think. Carters return was okay and could be good if they do anything with the pick. At least they got rid of the 10 year deal.

I am a very fair at assesing penalties even for my own team (i.e. not just a homer). this is why there was that Debacle against the Pens last January. THe team said if the officials won't help us we will take care of it ourselves...

I think you are about right on how many starts Turco will get at max...I would guess closer to 3 if Tim stays healthy. Problem is, if Rask isn't healthy by playoffs, the B's will have a relatively untested AHL goalie as their back-up if Tim gets hurt. Obviously, there is no way the B's could have forseen this, just sucks for them if Rask's groin problem turns out to be worse than they think.

Yeah I watched the replay multiple times. He was clearly knocked out. I have no clue why the whistle was not immediate. His arms were locked and he appeared to convulse more than once. Given how many times I have heard Shann say "the primary point of contact in this situation was the head", I would hope he stays consistent.

Glad the Sharks take the series 3-1 and get desperately needed points against the Wings.
Zetterbergs pick on Vlassic right before the Wings second goal was brutal I dont understand why the Wings dont get called for interference on plays like that. Well in the playoffs somewhat.

Havlats return seems to have really helped the Sharks. Hope it keeps up. Now in 8th with a 3 games in hand on the Avs

First guy that came to mind, I have mentioned him on here before last year when he got under my skin during a game, Scott Hartnell.

This guy is a fake tough guy with NO SACK,yesterday he backed down from McQuaid after starting some crap, and ran away at high speed from Chara.
Chara chased him down but Hartnell wanted no part of that. :sl

Duncan Keith is scheduled to have his hearing with the NHL today for his elbow to Danielle Sedin's noodle. I am guessing 3-4 games, which may not be a bad thing....little rest and recovery before the playoffs.

The initial phone hearing was changed to an in-person hearing so you can bet it'll be more like 5 - 10 games given the circumstances. went to the Wild game last night. They played like garbage the first half of the game, and were down 2-0, ad being thoroughly outplayed in all facets. Harding was great and kept them in it. They came back and tied it, and won it in overtime. It was hard to not cheer, because this was our view:
