Awesome! Really glad to hear you liked it! Yeah they are one of my favorite morning/early afternoon cigars, really consistent and flavorful. I was actually smoking them so often I had to take a break haha!
I never got around to getting the VIP for Atlantic earlier this year but will be reconsidering because yeah that San Lotano Maduro was a damned fine smoke!
Thanks gomeitsmybday this is a great cigar and I was super pleased to revisit this cigar.

H Upmann AJF Toro - today's delectable treat has been provided to me by none other than Bee/cigarlady7!!
She is relatively new to the forum but clearly not new to cigars, as she sent me one heck of a nice sampler. This is the first one out of the sampler and it's great. Starts off pretty peppery but a very nice pepper and after .5 inch it gives way to that unique buttery note that is in a lot of AJF's stuff...also a lot of woody earthy notes, so it's right in my wheelhouse! I actually recently bought a box of these and this cigar tells me I made a good buy. :)
A big thanks to Bee, she was very thoughtful with what she chosen to send me and I appreciate that!

Yes it is! I picked those up after reading some good reviews and I think the reviewers were right on. I saw that they've recently released the same blend except as Toros btw. I get the impression they would age spectacularly but I've already almost smoked my whole box. D'oh!
Glad you liked the smoke though!

San Lotano Small Batch Habano - thanks to Weelok! This one is awesome, definitely reminds me of regular San Lotano Reqiuem Habano, lots of great flavors! Oh, I think you will get great value out of Atlantic VIP.
Agreed! I was doing a little research and also saw that they offer an Espinosa exclusive as well, called "Estella" I believe. That added further confirmation to my decision as I absolutely love every 601 I've smoked and other various Espinosa creations I've tried, like the unfortunately named "Alpha Dawg". :banger

Another one from Bee!
AB The Lineage Toro (I think?) - I was a little hesitant on this one as I didn't think it would be strong enough to suit my preference but it was a pleasant surprise!! Started out as mild-medium, but builds up to a pretty solid medium about 1/3 in! Nice pleasant light peppery start then results in a pretty darned creamy smoke! Thanks Bee :noon

Oh wow I actually just smoked on of those earlier today, haha what a coincidence!
I have to agree, I'd read some lackluster reviews on a lot of Habanos' Anejados lines, but I quite enjoyed the Partagas Coronas Gordas as well! First half was good, but the last 1/2 was especially great.

I've been through a few boxes, and I really liked them right from the start. Not sure I buy the "Anejado story", but I don't care since I dig 'em. One thing I have noticed after smoking from several boxes, I like the light wrappered ones quite a bit better than the darker ones. No, Adam, it's not racist. :r

It's okay he has friends that smoke dark wrappers, so there's no *possible* way he could be racist. :)
But okay yeah Tom I just looked at my box and while I don't have any others to compare them to, the wrappers look to be on the more lighter side - so it appears I might have lucked out!

2015 Oliva Serie V Corona (or Petite Corona?) - I had been eyeing this one in the sampler RevSmoke sent, smoking absolutely beautifully...just what I'd expect from a Serie V but more intense flavor due to the vitola and 10 times smoother than some of the younger Serie V's I've had.

Really glad to hear that! I believe they've been coming out of AJs San Lotano factory since 2016 and while I haven't had the old DPG 601s, I'm really liking the new ones.
They seem to go under the radar, cigarauctioneer always seems to have plenty of 601 Steels at killer prices (I've seen below $3 a stick) and the last box I got was already a couple years old, so yeah I think it's become a new staple for me. :D

From gomeitsmybday. I am working my way through the bomb he trashed me with and tried two cigars he recommended. As in all things, everyone’s tastes and desires are unique so one was a hit and the other good but a few things I OCD on that made it not as favorable to myself.
First up, Sinestro The Last Cowboy. Band is awesome, love the name, cigar foot is crazy and I had to look it up. It’s Candela wrapped around the foot. The cigar is strong on the mouth so that is full body for myself and quite a bit of pepper. This cigar had a lot of flavor but definitely dominated by the body. I found the strength to be full as well and smoked this corona for an hour and a half. This is a great cigar and I would definitely buy this cigar.
The Crook and Crown by Stolen Thrones had a lot of flavor and good strength but I got hung up on the Indonesian dry mouth finish. The Indonesian tobacco is pretty strong and adds some nice flavor balance but left my mouth parched even after a drink of beer. This cigar tastes great but I would pass on buying any however I did just get a petite robust in a sampler hah!!! I will be able to do a second opinion :)

@ Snook if you like a strong, flavorfully spicy cigar then you absolutely need to try them, just make sure you get the Maduro version, as I believe the natural is less strong.
@ Vin another impressive cigar!!

Cigar Federation The Collective Toro - another from Weelock's sampler, this was a nice surprise! I read up on it before lighting, and it started off flavorful but maybe a bit lighter than expected, as the description says it's has Ligero in the blend. 1/3 the way in, the cigar ratcheted up in strength and I figured out where the Ligero was hiding! :D
Very flavorful cigar, thanks to Weelock!

*correction* that was Medio tiempo, not Ligero in that blend!

I just nubbed a RA Club Corona '07 CC from a recent spanking from out friendly neighborhood Icehog, enjoyed on my front porch in 80* weather with an adult beverage (vodka an cranberry in a styrofoam Chick-Fil-A cup, though a random zephyr did blow it over a spill my last few sips onto the step) while listening to Papa Haydn symphonies streamed via Bluetooth from my Dell Inspiron laptop to the JBL Flip 4 speaker I acquired a a bargain price through the internet thanks to a CNet deal alert in my inbox, whilst sitting on an old Kodalux cushion to ease my bony butt a bit, and wearing my NY Yankees cap and one of the Picasso t-shirts (a burgundy one) which I bought at the massive exhibit in 1980 at MOMA in midtown Manhattan, as well as a ratty old pair of New Balance sneakers and the Levi's Signature jeans purchased through Walmart online thanks to a gift card I received from a nephew for Christmas 1999, over some Prana knitwear I normally don in lieu of more standard underwear. All in all, a very enjoyable 45 minutes or so.
TMI? Well, excuuuuse me, but the combination of the Cuban lithium and the alcohol has me even more loopy than is normal for me. Besides, I often get busted for not posting pictures, so I am doing my best to provide you with those thousand words instead. :r

Excellent!! So happy to hear you like them both! For quite a while now I've been wanting someone who had smoked the DPG era 601s to compare them to the new 601s. I had heard quality plummeted after the split from DPG, not sure exactly where they were coming out of at that point, maybe La Zona directly? But from this article, it appears they are being made at AJs San Lotano Factory these days.
https://www.cigaraficionado.com/article/aj-fernandez-opens-new-factory-producing-601-brand-19153
Particularly for the price, they are spectacular cigars imo & I highly recommend that folks that used to like DPG 601s reconsider trying the new ones again!
Btw Dave I don't know about you, but the 601 Red reminds me a lot of the RASS. Of course, not completely identical, but it seems to me that if someone was to blend a NC cigar that was inspired by the RASS, the 601 Red would be a worthy attempt!

Another 601 from Gomeitsmybday, the 601 La Bomba Atom.
Ok, last La Bomba I’d smoked was an ICPCR release gifted to me by a cigar shop owner.
This Atom does NOT match my recollection at all. The OR was more of a woodsy Corojo medium body cigar if memory serves me correctly and was unremarkable.
This cigar was full bodied and a little over my head LOL. Wow. This was a strong cigar!!
Definitely pays to revisit cigars.

Excellent! I had a feeling you'd like that one, definitely a powerful smoke. However, just to be clear, that one in your photo is a special release, the 601 La Bomba Warhead Maduro...here is a Halfwheel link to that release:
https://halfwheel.com/601-la-bomba-warhead-iv/279221/
Boxes of 10, a bit pricier and harder to come by, but worth it imo! Now, I did also include an original 601 La Bomba blend in your sampler as well (It's probably either a corona or toro) which has the yellow label on the foot and yeah that one has more of a corojo profile so I suspect that's the one you have had before. Will be curious to see what you think of that one as well!! :tu

From Hippi3Slay3r the first up from his MAW / PIF package he sent me. This is ROTT and as predicted, it never made it to the humidor. The Viaje Satori in a size I’ve never tried. I have smoked two or three boxes of the toro size and this is from the good years of Viaje, I can tell!!!!
Rich, smooth, sweet, pepper, charred cedar, oh my. Honestly a perfect cigar for me and my palate. Viaje just doesn’t make a cigar like this anymore but the new release Oro is as good as any I remember so maybe he is getting things in order.
A wonderful cigar And a rare HTF so thank you very much!!!! This cigar brings back so many memories.

Yeah, all of the Isabela cigars have sweetened caps, according to the owner - this is done because some cubans cigars had sweetened caps in the past. I'm not a big fan of it, but fortunately it is very light and tends to disappear after the first few puffs.

Also happy to hear you liked the Sabor Aganorsa...I think I got those from Atlantic and the box was dated 2016, so while that's great, I worry that's because they weren't selling much, which is a shame because it's an excellent smoke as well.

Personally, I think they just needed to get old enough. I remember how cheap they were, got 3 boxes. I'd smoke one here or there, and then like 5 years after I got them, they just opened up. I smoked 'em like crazy because they were a "cheap" smoke. I have a very few of my last box left.

Dave, Weelok fulfilled a MAW for me back in June. Just smoked the "Black Label Trading Co. Bishops Blend 2019 (I think) Corona Larga.

Must admit, I loved the name. The 2 bands are certainly unique. Loved the rustic, dark maduro wrapper. As I wasn't smoking this to review, just to enjoy, I did not do my normal due diligence in paying attention to all the details. I will say this though, I did stop at one point and ask myself, "that is a strange flavor that sits there in the background?" It strangely reminded me of the taste of grapefruit peel - if that makes any sense. Otherwise, it was rather bold, complex, but not truly sweet. The draw tighter than I appreciate, but not something to require a poker or a toss of the cigar.
It was an intriguing smoke.
Thanks, Dave!
Peace of the Lord be with you.

Few cigars from RevSmoke out of his PIF/MAW.
A Charter Oaks corona which was excellent and lasted well over an hour. Of the two Charter Oak cigars I’ve smoked, one in the 54 - 60 RG range but not sure actual size and this Corona, the smaller RG is much better IMHO.
Friday I started off with the ERDM and pretty solid Dominican cigar. Smooth, didn’t make my mouth dry which is a huge plus, and some medium body flavors being sweet over some leather.

I just now saw this as I was about to post a cigar I smoked from another user, but I'm so happy to hear that Gabe!! If I had to choose, I'd probably pick the original Leche de Mama but honestly you can't go wrong with either...the maduro really just provides a darker, spicier experience. However the only problem is that they don't release them very often so if you see them, grab them quick!! :D

I just got done smoking an AJ Fernandez Signature Series that was very tasty. It was gifted to me by our friend Mac way back in 2011 at the Epic Herf in Ocala. Mac gifted me a whole box of CAOs and several other cigars that day. Since it was only about a month after that Herf that my brother passed away and then 10 months later my mom died it always brings back sad but fond memories when I pul out a cigar from Mac or others that gifted cigars to me at the Herf that year. :)

Good daughter! Anyway, this cigar is very good. It is a robusto maduro. A good cigar for me is if I can't complain about it. A very good cigar is one I would like to smoke again. I got a bunch of cigars, from a bunch of folk (the carnage from 2020 - and a couple trades), but I never remember to take pictures of the cigars as I smoke them. Usually, I am also away from WIFI and the ability to upload them anyway.
But...
Recently I had a Ltto Gomez Diez from MaytagMan - amazing smoke.
Also had an OlivaV courtesy WhiteMamba.
I also have smoked quite a few cigars that I received in the 2022 mass pummeling I received. I simply thank all those who sent things here: http://www.cigarasylum.com/vb/showthread.php?t=77103
I will try in the future to be more pro-active in taking pictures of things. I usually put nice bands on saying who gave a cigar to me, and when I received it. I take it off with the intention of saying something later. Then someone comes along and pics up the trash and throws it away before I can do something.
But, I do want to say thanks. I have been enjoying a bunch of cigars lately from a bunch of different people.
I do think of you all often.
Peace of the Lord be with you.
