Sorry Blueface, I have been occupado with my reef tank, setting it up, waiting, online
window-shopping for corals, etc. When you stop buying cigars the money has to go somewhere.
It's the equilibrium of human nature. I am a proud lifetime member of the Who-Dat nation. Well
I am a few years older than the Saints, but I have been there through everything. Even being
totally objective, I still see the Saints winning in a close shootout. The COlts are known for busting
out of the gate fast and getting 10-14 pts up on teams, and the Saints are used to playing through
that. The Saints are known for a strong second quarter, as well as great halftime adjustments.
And last but not least, the Saints know how to slam the door on teams in the 4th quarter. ONLY 41
4th qtr points scored by the opposition in the last 18 GAMES. We may not get to Peyton all night,
but he will be rushed, and he will have his rhythm broken up enough to where we can affect his numbers.
We will get turnovers, but I think we also commit two of our own. I think we will win the turnover battle.

Hey,
It is the final game of the year.
What fun is any sports without heartfelt predictions from fans?
So,
Who are you going for?:r
BTW,
I think I too will go with the Saints, by a hair as a tough choice indeed here.
I think both teams are explosive and should be a heck of a shootout.
I just like what the Saints always seem to do in the second half of the game and I see this as a tight game until the end.

I would be absolutely shocked if the Colts didn't smear the Saints. I'm thinking 35-14.
I don't see the Saints scoring in the first half, period.
I know that's awful bold, but it's the way I see it. ;)
If the Saints can bust out early, they have a shot. If not, I don't think they can adjust. The Colts are too strong, too deep, and way too experienced in big games.
Either way, it's going to be a good game. I honestly don't care who takes it home. I'd love to see the Saints take it, they've had an incredible run and it'd be great for the team and the city. I just have a lot of faith in Peyton Manning, I can't see him letting this one slip away.

Hurricane WhoDat is predicted to make landfall on the South Florida coast in the vicinity of Miami on 7 Feb 2010 at approximately 5:00 PM CST. This extremely powerful hurricane is expected to produce damaging Shockey waves and Category 5 Brees.
Reports from shipping indicate that this unstoppable storm has blown a huge flock of Cardinals all the way to Arizona , and that it has sunk a replica Viking longboat, the Brettigfǻvren. Livestock, in particular young horses, will be in severe danger of being decimated. Predictive damage estimates are unavailable at this time, but they are expected to be significant.
All interests in and near the Miami area are advised to prepare for a storm surge of catastrophic proportions as Hurricane WhoDat begins to arrive in approximately 2 days.

I have to say....no. I commented that I thought the Saints would win the challenge. Ball clearly broke the plane while he had possession.
I think the scrum after the onside kick was a bigger travesty. Lots of punches being thrown by both sides and the Saints players on the sideline wer getting in on it. Refs should have taken control.

No. The receiver bobbled the ball but regained control with the ball in the endzone before the Colts player ran into it and knocked it loose. Since the receiver was on the ground with the ball firmly in his control before that happened the call was overturned and ruled as a completion.

ESPN put up an article saying the Saints won before the game was even played (yesterday morning).
The Who performed at Who Dat's championship game.
Peyton was payed off by people in his hometown and threw the interception on purpose.
The media latches on to a feel good story of the year and pulls some strings to get The Saints a victory.

In response to some other posts:
1. Freeny only had 1 sack. That's not a "dominating" performance.
2. "Bad" officiating? I was pleased that they let the teams play without a lot of yellow flags. But since it was brought up, there were some Colt players who should have been flagged for unnecessary roughness for kicking and taking swings at Saint's players, too.
3. The refs didn't give the Saints the game. If the two point conversion call had been held up, the Saints would have still won by 12 points. The game was won when Porter intercepted Manning and ran it back for the touchdown.
4. Conspiracy theories are for losers, to make them feel better for losing. How about all those stories over the past two week saying the Colts were head and shoulders better than the Saints and that basically all the Colts had to do was walk on the field and the Saints would curl up on the sidelines.
5. This was a good game. Manning will be a first ballot Hall of Fame QB. The game came down to two plays by the Saints - the onside kick to open the 2nd half and the interception return by Porter.

I don't believe anyone called it a dominating performance (straw man). But, he looked pretty good for having a torn ligament in his ankle and being doubled on every play.
3. The refs didn't give the Saints the game. If the two point conversion call had been held up, the Saints would have still won by 12 points. The game was won when Porter intercepted Manning and ran it back for the touchdown.
Actually, if that call was upheld, it's a completely different game. The Colts would have been looking to run the clock rather than needing a score. But, I didn't have a problem with that call, it was a good challenge. At least the plane was actually broken, unlike the Minnesota game.

One thing that surprised me and really made me disappointed in Peyton Manning was his leaving the sidelines for the locker room before the final seconds were off the clock.
You would have thought he would be gracious enough to at least shake hands with Brees and tell him "good game."
Now. About Manning. He is a Hall of Fame QB in waiting. He has the one Superbowl ring already. But here is something most people don't know about him and post-season football - and I know this because he was playing high school football down here the same times my two sons were playing - he hasn't won that many "championships."
As a starter at his high school he lead his team to the playoffs three times. Never won a state championship.
As a starter at Tennessee he never won a national championship.
In the NFL he only has one.
He is still a great quarterback.

The television ratings are in and this years Super Bowl is now the most watched TV show ever. It eclipsed the Finale of M-a-s-h which was the highest rated. Neilsen Co. reports that 106 million people are estimated to have watched the game. The 1983 rating for MASH was 105.97.
The Story around the city of New Orleans and Katrina and Peyton Manning going for his second Super Bowl ring were attributed as factors in the high rating.

This is essentially the same way they had won all year.
Jeers to ANYONE who saw questionable officiating during that game. I was on the lookout for it,
since that's all anyone talked about for two weeks, dirty play by the Saints. It didn't happen, and
the refs for the most part let the game roll on unimpeded. I yelled all year about officiating helping
Florida, so believe me, I know what to look for. Anyone who saw anything that didn't look right to
them needs to learn about football. No one that knows the rules and understands the way
the game is played can say they saw anything but the Saints beating the Colts fair and square.
I need to read the comments about the 2 pernt conversion, all I saw on the live play was a sqeaking
successful try, and as they went to break, I was saying "when we get back from commercial, if there
is no review in progress, I'll eat my hat." In replay it was clear that the player finally gained possession of the
ball and reached it over, hit the ground, reached it over again, and only lost possession when the Colts
player hit his arms and the ball. Maybe that's not what the point of the dustup was anyway, but
there was no mistake made in the end. Hey, if you want to win the Super Bowl, you would be very well advised
to keep yourself from falling victim to a defense that has made hay ALL YEAR LONG on opposing offenses. HOLD
ONTO THE BALL, treat possession with a little more respect and you will have no problems beating the Saints.
It's just that no one could resist giving it up or having it taken from them.
The proper call should have been offensive holding. Replay clearly showed the Colts receiver pulling back on the cornerback's arm.
Yep, and you know, when I called Florida cheaters for doing the same thing to LSU, about 3 times worse,
I said the refs threw the game for Florida. It was T-bones roomate, drug the LSU defender out of
position by his jersey and goes in for the easy score. THAT was flagrant. That the ref didn't SEE
it and didn't flag it made me a whiner in this forum. So I guess whoever is upset by that play getting
called in the Saints game is by definition a whiner. Believe me I know it is no fun being called a whiner.
And when Florida got their A$$ handed to em by Bama, I forgot all about it. So you can heal, too.
1st troll I have seen in awhile. Guess they never die.
Nah, he's got 2000-something posts. That makes him incorrect, not a troll. :D
1. We're in the midst of Mardi Gras also. That being said, the crowd you saw on Bourbon Street last night looked heavier than what we normally see during the weekend before the big party on Mardi Gras day..Yep, that crowd would be lucky to be like that the weekend BEFORE MG.
Anyway, I'll let you know, cause it is the week of my annual pilgramage back home for the Luling Parade.
I never end up taking Mon and Tue off, but returning home for the MG weekend really helps me
take the edge off the rest of the year and tolerate being an expatriate in a town fool of hoodlums.
And I learned decades ago, Bourbon St. is fine 350 days a year, but it's an idiot that ventures down
in the weeks before Mardi Gras. I had a girlfriend from Denton TX in town with me on the weekend before MG
and she said she wanted to go to the FQ. I begged her not to make me do it, and standing in line for PatO's
she was lifted off her feet by the crush. She panicked and wanted to go. In te next second a guy tried to
cut in line ahead of us and a guy hit him so hard across the back of the head, he fell face first and hit the
pavement, splitting his skull wide open. Never again.
Seems like I got my own page here... SORRY.
A guy just came in and said, I KNEW the Saints were going to win, and I said, "No, now hold on here...you
told me that you were PULLING for the Saints, but that you thought the Colts would win. That makes you
a person who thought the COLTS were going to win. It's like Woodstock, 5 million people said they were there
but the attendance was more like 5-800,000. Thank goodness VEGAS keeps em honest. If you were "pulling"
for the Saints, but put MONEY on the Colts, you LOST. Haha.
That's for all you who didn't look at it intellectually and sentimentally.
The Saints have a ton of really good players, the Colts have one GREAT player and one Great player on a gimpy leg.
Much as I love my LA homeboys, Reggie Wayne ain't Reggie Wayne no more.
After Dallas Clark caught about 5 balls in a row, I knew we had it in the bag. But to tell you the truth, I never
doubted for a second after the Cardinals win. Drew Brees, Reggie Bush, Pierre Thomas, Jeremy Shockey,
Marcus Colston, Lance Moore, an awakened Robert Meachem, Devery Freaking Henderson's speedy-a$$.
And that's just the offense. Our D was banged up the final third of the season. They were ALL back in shape
for the SBowl. How you gonna bet AGAINST THAT?

I was absolutely certain the Saints would lose. They were doing everything they could till Garcon stepped up and missed two easy 3rd down for first down catches.
That's why they play the game though, my brother. :)
I was hoping they'd work out their differences and not have to play, but alas.

I was absolutely sure the Saints would be WORLD CHAMPIONS because I live 32 miles from the Superdome and I looked at things like strength of schedule and how each team won all the games that they did. The Saints played a more difficult schedule and played hard against the good teams to pull out wins. Sure there were some close calls and some losses but if going undefeated was easy there would be more than two teams to have done it. And I believe that if our "D" starters wouldn't have been in bad shape in December that the Cowboys wouldn't have won (they won by only 7 pts and that wasn't a beating). The Tampa and Carolina games were throw aways so that the starters wouldn't get hurt - and we still lost one player to injured reserve.
Here's something else that Colts fans can believe in. This wasn't the last Superbowl for Manning and company. The Colts are still too good to miss the playoffs.
Haha, yep, Pappy, you are right. I am indignant this week, and you know why, having lived it, too. These few excerpts from Bobby Hebert's blog sort of sum it up for me.
I'm so emotionally spent.
When the game was all over, I cried like a damn baby. This meant so much to me. I'm talking on the Saints Spanish network, I couldn't even talk, I was so choked up. I was like, come on, you've got to keep your composure. I couldn't keep my composure... THE FREAKING SAINTS ARE GOING TO THE SUPER BOWL!!!
My eyes are so red right now I look like a damn vampire. I'm just getting choked up again talking to about it, because HELL YEAH the Saints are going to the SUPER BOWL! All the stress and anxiety we've had over the years... We're going to Miami, and NOBODY can take that away from us!
Realistically you have to pinch yourself and say, "Whoa, they are going to the Super Bowl!" Its not like they are trying to get there, or will have to wait until next year, because we have the right team or the right leaders... No, they actually went out there and accomplished it. That's what is so special. But I think as part of the fan base, we're so excited that we're going to the Super Bowl. But as a player, once you get there, you want to win it. No matter what level - high school, college, or professional - when you have an opportunity to win a championship, that's what you want to achieve. So as players, they know it's not finished.
I lived a life few NFL fans can even comprehend, with my lifetime of Saints loyalty. I was born 5 years before the Saints, and for a kid with Saints footie pajamas and Saints stickers all over my door, and a Manning jersey, and an autographed Manning "FREY MEATS" photo, you live and breathe the Saints even though they suck. When something like this happens, you still cannot comprehend how decades of idiotic drafts and poor decisions and bad coaches and bad owners and bad seasons can somehow right itself. But Sean Payton came in and got rid of bad players, good players with bad attitudes and players with bad contracts, and turned a 7th round pick into the most productive receiver in the NFL, and kept players who would agree to let him show them how to win and be successful.
I love Peyton Manning, I am proud of him and proud of Eli. I think the Colts are fantastic. But this season, I KNEW that ALL OF THAT would still not be enough to get them by the Saints.
