Alright girls... I have never shared this recipe with anyone:
3559
Wings coming off the smoker
3558Wings tossed in Smokin Gator's Hot Wing Rub
Process:
Marinade full wings in Italian Dressing for 3-4 hours (I used Kraft Zesty Italian).
Smoke wings at 225 for 2 1/2 hours using your choice of flavoring wood (I use apple or pecan).
Run temp up to 350 and cook for an additional 1/2 hour.
Take off cooker - if you have a deep fat fryer and want the bomb have it ready and put the wings in for 1-2 minutes.
Toss in Smokin Gator's Hot Wing Rub
Smokin Gator's Hot Wing Rub:
¾ cup paprika
½ cup dark brown sugar – dried
3 tablespoons crushed red pepper flakes (Yes tablespoons)
1 tablespoon salt
½ tablespoon seasoned salt
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
¼ tablespoon cayenne pepper
To dry the dark brown sugar spread it on a cookie sheet and heat it in the oven at 250 for about 10 minutes. Let it cool them crush any chunks with a mortar and pestil.

and.....????
And they were totally rockin! My g/f...her sister...and their niece (who is 8) were all raving about them. I marinated in the Kraft...then made Smokin Gator's Hot Wing Rub...totally delicious. I don't have a pic of the final product...but here they are coming out of the smoker. I had to finish them in the oven since I realized I didn't have enough fuel (briquettes or wood) to get the temp high enough in the smoker.

Yep... those look mighty tasty!!! That rub sounds so strange with all of that crushed red pepper, but it seem to have a great combo of sweet, salty, and heat.

It really did have all of those elements. I admit I was skeptical but the flavor was down right awesome. I double up on the pepper flakes for myself. I'll be making them next weekend again for the Texas vs Oklahoma game.
Looks great, sounds better.
Going to have to try this sometime.
Also just noticed that gator is using a BGE...:dr

I have two, a medium and a large. Both are old and are Craigslist finds. I have bought and sold quite a few of them. Great cookers all around but my favorite things on them are pizza and steaks.

Damn...
I've never found a BGE on CL, not a used one anyway. A few retail stores advertise on CL - like I couldn't find them by opening the phone book. Other than that, it's mostly burned out gas grills or overpriced used webers or stuff stolen off the loading docks from Wal-mart out here. :bh
