It's been a warm Easter Day here in Minneapolis, so I smoked my first cigar of the spring, a LHDM des Dieux. Very nice, a good way to start the "cigar smoking season." Had a Sierra Nevada Kellerweis Hefeweizen with it, spent a nice hour or so on the patio.

Would second that. I had Zaya for the first time a couple of months ago and it is probably my favorite Rum right now - great bananas and caramel!

Definitely try it neat if you haven't done so already.

This was a great TRIO, actually

http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/ii88/kaisersozei/Bombs/TheSmoke.jpg

The cigar was gifted from Hotreds, the ashtray from Hal, and the beer from my son. All while brewing an Imperial IPA yesterday during "Operation CohiBrew!" It was my first Cohiba, so I started with drinking just water, but my son pulled out the Lagunita's which was his first "legal" purchase last month. ;) So I paired it up and the two went surprisingly well together. The malt character & fruitiness of the beer really came out. All in all, a great day!

I've had 2 bottles of the Nemesis (at $5 per!) and won't be buying anymore. It was okay, but nothing noteworthy. :2

These two complemented each other perfectly. The root beer started off stronger than the Monte A but then the Monte A ended up overpowering the root beer. The finish on each sip of the soda was very long and complemented the cigar as much as the long finish on the cigar did the soda. This was a wonderful combo.

Last night at the Thursday VCM Shed Herf...Cigar City Brewing Company Maduro Brown Ale w/ a DPG JJ Series Maduro (this didn't work too well, made the stick taste funny). Sorry for the crappy cell pic. And yes...I snuck that beer into Baileys.

Todays pairing was much better...A.J. Stephans Root Beer with a 601 Blue :dr :dr

Looks like some good pairing, Mac!!!

I'd suggest sticking it in the frig, will slow down the carbonation. I shared a 22oz bottle at todays VCM Hal Herf, and it was foamy, too. Double IPA latte.

Though it was frothy, it was not over carbonated as far as mouthfeel was concerned. I enjoyed it immensely :tu

I like to start cold and drink slow and taste the differences as it warms. I agree good beers taste better at warmer temps but my uncouth mind still likes the first sip to be a little frosty

Pretty much exactly how I drink my beers. Erin will complain that I don't finish it during dinner and that I'm having my last few sips as we're chilling watching TV afterwards. :p

Found a new rum at the store from Venezuela. Was a staff pick and $20 for a bottle so what the hell. Nice and smooth with just a hint of heat at the finish. Goes well with a nice medium cigar on a hot afternoon day with warm sea breezes.

I thought I'd hijack your picture to post an update on this Belgian Specialty Ale. :D

This was 1 of 4 beers I entered into this year's National Homebrew Competition and I just received the scores from my regional round today. The other 3 beers did pretty well, but this one took first place in its category and will advance to finals in San Diego! The judges said it was a "gorgeous" beer and a "flawless" example of the style :noon :noon

I'm pretty pumped so I just thought I'd share!

Not normally into pairing cigars with wine, but this Bogle Phantom was fat and juicy, and the Hoyo du Roi I paired it with was raisin sweet with some nice spice. Worked out pretty well!

Edit: if anyone could tell me (forum noob) why the photos I post come out so small I would appreciate it.
