I did not see this one but I have read a few that say the same thing. That is what ultimately made my mind up.

Ha ha! I hate when that happens. Thank you for the information. I'll have to check it out later, but I think others happening upon this thread might also benefit from knowing what's being discussed here.

I have been living Paleo on and off for a year and like it a lot. The only thing that gets me is the Paleo hangover when I slip up...Horrible.

I do Paleo all week and try to stay pretty tight with it on the weekends. I feel much better when I'm on it, only wish it was a little easier to follow. The only advice I can give is to always prep food ahead of time and make side you have options to eat when your out.

Cooking in batches helps a lot. On the weekend we cook for the lunches the next week. Frozen veggiies can help a lot too. I eat half a bag of broccoli almost every day at work. It does take some planning and forethought, but for me the inconvienience is worth it. What i was doing before certainly wasn't working.

My mother and father-in-law follow the Paleo diet. They love it. We joke that my mother-in-law only picked "this" diet because alcohol is permitted. That sounds like my kind of lifestyle!

I'm looking to make a lifestyle change and I think maybe I'll borrow the book. It makes sense to me that our bodies work better when eating like the cave man.

I'd heard about the Paleo diet but hadn't really given it much thought. I've already been doing a lower carb diet to control my blood sugar, so this could be the next step in the progression. Although giving up cheese would make it really difficult. Bread/rice/pasta I can do without. Give me a hunk of stinky talleggio melted over a grilled hamburger any day.

Cheese is one of the foods that are on the fence. Technically dairy is not paleo since Hunter Gatherers were not out milking mastodons, and a lot of people do loose the enzymes to properly digest dairy after about 4 years old, but others can eat it and not have issues. I've cut out most dairy just from not eating cereal and ice cream, but I will still eat cheese. I've started cold smoking my own cheese recently, and will have a couple pieces once a week or so, or have a slice on a hamburger patty when I grill them. I've also started eating berries with mascarpone and a dash of heavy whipping cream as a dessert one or two evenings a week.

The only dairy I eat is greek yogurt for breakfast and the occassional bit of cheese. So not like i"m eating a lot of it. Never had the stomach for milk. Ice cream was always a treat thing anyway for me, so having really given it up the last year or so wasn't a big deal.

Found this on FB today. Now this sounds good. I will be making one soon.

Sweet. I just made this last week. It's a pound of chopped bacon wrapped up inside 2 pounds of pork sausage inside a pound of woven bacon.

Last month I bought 9 pounds of pork side and dry cured and cold smoked my own bacon. It pretty much rocks.

Fantastic and, I didn't even notice a leg or a flip-flop. I need to get my butt moving on building my UDS. I now have two 55-gal drums just in case I need to cut one to make a door for the other. But I need to get them blasted, painted, and the buy the parts to convert it.

Concerning Paleo diet, it sounds similar to a low-carb high-protien diet like Atkins, minus the cheese. That "pizza" looks good. I might try something similar in the future. I've lost weight using low carb diets and kept it off for a long time but it's difficult when my wife makes most of my dinners and isn't on the same page.

Atkins and Paleo are similar. The main difference is that Atkins limits the amounts of fruits and vegetables you should eat where with paleo vegetables should be a major part of what you eat. The other difference is that with Atkins there is no attention paid to the quality of food that you eat, where with paleo it should be minimally processed. If you can't tell if it came from a plant or animal you probably shouldn't eat it. The Atkins group as a line of protein bars and bottled beverages, paleo has that too they're chicken legs and filtered water.

I should also point out that a lot of people take this a step further than just what they eat. People actually make changes to turn this into a lifestyle, things like proper sun exposure, physical activity and they way they workout, adequate sleep and the quality of the sleep. I do try to incorporate most of these into my lifestyle, I've asked my wife for an atlatl for my lat two birthdays and Christmases but no dice. I haven't gone as far as getting one of these

That link is hilarious. I'm 6'6" so my legs are at that angle on normal toilets unless I'm on a handi-crapper. My step-sis and BIL (6'4" & 6'5") have one, it sits about 4 inches taller than normal.

I understand where you're going with Paleo being a lifestyle and the difference in food quality. When eating low-carb/Atkins I do incorporate vegetables, primarily green veggies, but I have to be selective. I can see how a Paleo lifestyle would be a vast improvement for most people. BTW, I love the idea of gettign an atlatl. I wonder if it'd be legal to hunt with one????

I haven't got a chance to see this all of this yet, but at the end a group of them did take down an elk with atlatls. There was a specialist of some sort on the show that said to his knowledge that elk was the largest animal taken with an atlatl in modern times.
