Default Woodworking November Project (Walnut dining table)

Well in late October my wife had finally had enough stalling, and wanted a new dining table by Thanksgiving. I had been saying for a few years that I would make one and there was no way we were going to drop $6000 on a new one.

2nd night first clamp up after planing, joining, and some initial sanding.

Biscuts and glue apply a little water to get an idea of final color

Comparison table, I looked at this for about 10 seconds and the wife said she like it so I guess this is where the idea started. I paid about $800 for wood, these jokers wanted $6000 for the one I saw...

I was a big Red Green fan when I was a kid. If they don't find you handsome they should at least find you handy.

Cool table. I'm into woodworking myself, nice job. You must have had to get about 4 buddies to help you move it into the room. Looks like it weighs about 500 Lbs.

No just two of us moved it no problem. It is not lightweight, but not nearly as heavy as it looks either.

Very nice workmanship, love the leg joinery and breadboard edges.

I thought about that, and have done so on some other projects, but I actually prefer this stuff raw on the table, plus I am the only one who has seen it, since no one goes crawling under the table.
