My Ronson functions perfectly in mild weather but when I take it fishing in the cold it will not light, any of you cold weather guys have a good cold weather lighter suggestion? It is really pissing me off. Thanks

maybe a plastic one over metal? would be easier to warm up and might not cause issues

Re: Best cold weather lighter?
I just keep mine in my pocket... body heat does the rest...
I use a triple flame Vector most times... maybe that makes it better? |

Ya, I have been keeping it in my vest, maybe a move to the pocket is the fix.

Re: Best cold weather lighter?
Get yourself a flint w/soft flame lighter.
For example, here is one that says it is specifically for pipes, but that only means it has an angled flame - you can angle it however you like. It does word well, but it isn't necessarily wind proof. http://www.lightersdirect.com/Pipe+Magie.821/ And another one. http://www.elighters.com/im380073.html And one more. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004NNLDDS/...SIN=B004NNLDDS Coleman makes one too. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0043IBXTW/...SIN=B0043IBXTW Of course, there is always the Zippo. Glad to be of assistance. )))

Re: Best cold weather lighter?
Hey, that was my first thought. Me, I don't use one, but I understand one can avoid the "lighter fluid taste" pollution problem by allowing the flame to burn for a few seconds, thus burning off the fumes. Just my , and worth every penny.

Re: Best cold weather lighter?
My Evertorch works great in the winter compared to most other torches. Getting the soft flame lit with the flint and than activating the torch portion seems to be the best solution for the cooler months. Here's a vid I found on Youtube showing how it works. (not my video) They're a little pricey when compared to a Ronson but there are cheaper version out there.

Re: Best cold weather lighter?
I just purchased an ST DuPont Defi Extreme and it works great. Advertised for cold temperatures and high altitude. I can't vouch for either since I live on the coast of Cali, but it works great every time.
