Why does it need to be the east coast, Pete? They can come from many thousand miles away, a few more won't hurt them.
Here are a couple.

..and fast.

I ordered ay 4:45 and got a tracking number at 5:00

I like SweetMarias, but 60 miles is better than coast to coast when you're expecting something.

Interesting family history and I might have to stop by there next time I am in Tampa.

With Sm's take advantage of the 12lb and 20lb flat rate shipping with usps, this gets me a package of greens to the E. coast in 3 days instead of 1 week of ups ground shipping.

You really can't beat SM for quality, variety and Tom's expert advice on roast degree. I usually take advantage of the USPS priority shipping when i'm just ordering beans - coast-to-coast in two day's and pretty cheap to boot!

(allright, allright, you posted first Rob, but tell them who twisted your arm to try it? lol)

20 lbs? That would last me a couple years, well not really, but a while. I'd need to be positive I liked it before committing to 20 lbs though.

I have over 100lbs of beans stored. The wife and I drink 2lbs a week plus what I give to friends and family. The espresso machine just chews through beans, if I do nothing but espresso for the two of us I need to roast 3-4lbs a week.

I just got my 1st try of some roasted Black Cat, very good looking roast and tasty. I am very happy with my roasting results but getting something like the BC keeps me honest about my home roast and well I am just awesome .

Sadly they sell the "Kopi Luak", I am not much for supporting animal cruelty in my cup. It isn't like they are following the animal around waiting for it to poop, they cage the Civet and force feed it coffee beans for easy collection.

Brother, the human cruelty of the coffee trade eclipses any cat crap harvesting you could imagine. Its ironic that Kopi costs soooo much when the real (human) growers don't see nearly what they should, let alone enough for a fair life. At least the cats get to eat.

Agreed, so even from your point of view I do not like bean suppliers that would promote a fad bean for outrageous prices that the growers or workers will never benefit from. Instead of promoting the growth of better beans and the incentive of more money for a higher quality product these people are asked to gather cat poo for a bean that already tastes like cat poo before it went through the Civets digestive tract.

This is just my opinion and I don't care to support a bean supplier that is more interested in what sells even if it sucks.

Probably here or the Jungle, Norm was a valued member of the Jungle, and has been a valued member here for awhile now.

I've bought roasted beans from Uncle Norm, but haven't yet tried the green beans.

I am a big fan of his Malabar Gold and am always tempted to try some of the beans from the "indulge" section.

I noticed a great thing about green beans; you can have a half dozen varieties around and not worry about freshness and get to try a lot of different blends in a week's time by roasting small batches.

I am really enjoying this aspect of the hobby and now realize the 20 pounds I rolled my eyes at earlier is not too far off from what I am currently stocking in various beans.

Currently, I have really been ordering consistently from CCM coffee in Tampa, as suggested here. and have been very satisfied by price, selection, and quality.

The only thing about them is you click and order, and there are not many decriptions of the bean or roast suggestions, like some other suppliers, which leads me to believe most of their customers know what they want and how to roast what they want, but what the hell do I know????

I find myself roasting until I like the look and smell, taking notes, posting the notes on the container, and adjusting from there until I find what I like. Not very scientific, but works so far.

I downloaded a stop watch app for my iPhone and use that instead of the timer on the Freshroast and was thinking a roast app would be a great idea for some technologically inclined individual, which takes me out of the equation.

Pete, there is 1 app called "Roast" for $3.99, I haven't downloaded it yet so no idea of how good it is but I am sick of all my notebooks and loose roast logs so I may just get it.

BTW I like SM's especially Tom's notes on all the beans.
