Default Lighter issue

I have had a Colibri lighter for years now. I know, I know, everyone bashes Colibri, but this thing has been great and super reliable for 4+ years, besides it was a gift from my GF. The issue is that when I fill the lighter, the fill valve stays pressed down slightly, allowing the butane to leak back out of the lighter. I bleed the lighter fairly often and use good lighter fluid. Anyone know a fix for this? Do I need to get a new lighter? Will Colibri service this (I have no warranty or purchase info)? Any help would be great.

Try a drop of rubbing aclohol around the stem, if there is any dirt there it may clean it out.

I jumped on their web site and as far as I can figure, Colibri only has a one year warranty. Since there is a sentimental attachment to the lighter I'd give them a call if the rubbing alcohol doesn't work. It probably won't be free since it's no longer covered by warranty, however, they may still repair it for a fee.

Or

Xmas is around the corner, maybe it's time to ask your GF for a new one.

Wise....ask for a blazer (not pretty, but functional).

Blazer PB-207 best running lighter and holds a TON of Fuel. It is a torch not the soft flame so that may be something you are not interested in?

Good Luck

Tried that one once for the same reason and it desolved the seal and will no longer hold any gas for any amount of time. Try warm water and a tooth pick.
