Did you season it? Also did you calibrate your hygrometer?

The temperature is going to be the ambient temperature. Find a cool spot out of the sunlight. I moved all mine to the basement a few years back for a constant 65*.

As far as the humidity, add a small bowl of distilled water and keep it sealed for a few days and check it again. Not sure your crystals are enough to season it.

Check for leaks. If its a solid top, you can put a flashlight inside and look around the edges for light leaks. You can fix small leaks with blue painters tape. If its a glass top, you can put a dollar bill in several places around the edges, it should not pull out easily. Also, check the glass to be sure its tight and doesnt move around.

This thread will guide you through seasoning a humidor. http://www.cigarasylum.com/vb/showthread.php?t=620

Have you tried any other humidity devices?
Recommend getting some beads.

I takes more than two days to season a humidor. You have not said what the ambient temperature and humidity in the room where the humidor is stored. That would be helpful information.

The temperature of the humidor will never be less than the temperature of the room. The RH can be higher or lower but only if the humidor seals well. Bob offer some good advice above and Brian has provided you with a good link that should help you alot.

All great info from the guys above, If it has only been two days and has not been pre-seasoned I would say it needs more time.

If both these statements are true, something is wrong with your hygrometer, unless your humidor is sitting on your heater or has burning cigars inside.

You can never have too many cigars, they are like an investment in good times.

As a guy who's still really a Noob, I've gotta say that the above advice was great for me.

I seasoned my humidor, calibrated my hygrometer, and then put the hygrometer into my humidor. After a week or so I was happy with the way that the hygrometer was staying stable, and in went my sticks.

Patience is a virtue...but's it's no fun being patient.
