Default Any legitamate cigar stores in Tijuana?

I am curious is any of you Californians know of any legitimate cigar stores in Tijuana? I want to stop and grab some smokes before heading further down into Mexico and Tijuana is the first stop.

Any ideas? I know Tijuana is a big tourist trap, so I don't want to go somewhere and get ripped off.

If I remember correctly there is LCDH there.

There's a La Casa del Habano on Avenida Revolucion. There are also countless shops selling glass-top Cohibos, so be careful.

The LCdH is the place to go. Moises and David will take good care of you.

There is one other legitimate shop a couple of block down from the LCdH but the name escapes me. Hopefully, one of my fellow BOTLs can chime in.

LCDH on Revolucion. Personally, in your situation, I would park in at the American border, walk into Mexico, take any of the waiting taxi's, say "Take me to Revolucion, La Casa del Habano," and they will take you there. When you are done, take a taxi back to the border, and than continue on your trip. I've had friends with problems parking in Tijuana; windows, tires, etc...

Yeah that sounds good. I have a friend who lives literally 5 minutes walking from the border, so that seems to be the way to do it. Thanks for the help guys.

Ditto this,,,I never take my car into Mexico even with extra insurance. You become a "target" because as everyone knows, Americans are all rich and carry loads of money in their vehicles. I have gotten some very good cigars in TJ at LCDH. If you can get further down into Mexico you can score some great Lobster Dinners in Puerto Nuevo,,good hotels and food and beach.

There is a travel alert for Mexico issues by the State department. I'd read that before driving into Mexico very far.

Yeah I'm not sure about recent travel updates, but my local friend told me he's stopped going recently due to the murders. There's been a big number right around Christmas. Now may not be the optimal time to go to Mexico.

Traveling abroad can always be risky. I posted that mostly just as an FYI.

If you keep your wits about you and go during the daylight, you'll probably be fine.

Just be happy you aren't crossing over at Juarez or however you spell it.

This was many years ago, but down at the end(?) of Revolution Blvd. there was a nice department store, like a Macy's or something. Can't remember what it was called. Inside, they had a small counter of cuban cigars.

I would not trust a source in Mexico that isn't a LCDH.

As a Anti-terrorism Force Protection guy I thought I'd post this since the topic came up about travel precautions. A good link to read before going to any country. If you are travel abroad know the # to the Embassy and consulate. Just friendly advice.

Have a safe fun trip.

One (actually two) of the best lobster dinners I've ever had!!!

"dos langostas por favor, no frijoles o arroz, solamente las langostas"

They look at you funny, but for the money it was worth it to order two lobster dinners and just skip the beans & rice.

Good times, good times.

Definitely good eats! My wife and I used to go down there 3 to 4 times a year just for the lobster. It makes for a great weekend, but we haven't been in several years due to all of the turmoil and stuff down there.

The LCDLH is legit. Tiajuana is somewhat safe, but I would still use precaution. As for traveling in Mexico. No thanks. Too hostile down there right now.
