Another place to eat:

Breakfast: Blue Heaven (fanstastic food and great breads which you can order to go)

Anytime: Half Shell Raw Bar (great seafood on the cheap...the locals hang out here)

La Concha.

Right in the middle of everything, but quiet. They have a pool if you wanna get wet. Don't miss the rooftop sunset, even if you end up not staying there. They'll still let you up there.
I wouldn't stay anywhere else after staying there my last visit.

My fiance booked the hotel last night. She picked the Southernmost Hotel. Not the one on the beach but it's right across the street I guess. We got the suite with a balcony and a kitchenete for about $200 less for the 5 nights than La Concha for it's basic room. It's right at the end of Duval St. and one block away form the southern most point. We will definitely be checking out all the places that you guys have listed to eat and drink. So thanks for all the help, and please keep listing places to eat and see!!! We can't wait to get down there!!!!!

Man, I need to unsubscribe to this thread, I'm jealous!

I had to cancel my reservations I had for week after next at the Big Pine Fishing Lodge due to dad breaking his leg at the hip. For some reason the orthopedic surgeon doesn't think riding 500 miles and then balancing in a bout that is bobbing around would be very therapeutic for my 82 year old dad.

Oh well, I REALLY hope you have a great time! Seriously. The Keys are a great place to unwind and relax.

Congrats as well!

Two restaurants that are not to be missed.
Pardon the monkey, it was in a collage of pictures for my daughter.
Grumpy's is closed for good.

Got back from the Keys on Monday. Got married in Key Largo on 8/14. Spent 5 days there, then 5 days in Key West.
What a great time we had. Just a couple of notes, the Roof Top bar at La Concha was closed, we aren't sure if it was just for that night or for good. didn't seem to be anything at the bar.
The Western Union ship i guess had been dry docked for the last few months and was JUST put into the water for testing. I got to see it but it wasn't sailing. We went on DANGER for a "Wind and Wine" sunset cruise. Highly recommend this cruise.
For us New Englanders, the Lazy Gecco was a great spot. "The Southern Most Red Sox Nation". Was able to watch the Pats game and the Red Sox game on Thursday night.
Fort Jefferson was a great trip and worth the money to go to the Least Visited National PArk in the country. Great snorkeling and a great fort. If any one does go out there, please look in the water for my wedding band
We had a great time but have come to the conclusion that if we were to visit again, spend a couple days in Key Largo to wind down, head to Key West to party and then go back to Key Largo to chill out again.
Thanks to everyone that gave us suggestions. We would have hit every place but just didn't have time and didn't eat breakfast once the entire trip!!!!
O'yeah, came back with TONS of cigars!!!

Glad to hear you had a good time...sorry to hear about the wedding ring...I'm still looking for my class ring in the ocean off Hollywood Beach...and that was circa 1964...

Edit: doh, old post!?! LOL

But glad to see you stayed at the Southernmost... I stayed at the Southernmost on the Beach and loved it. It helped we had ocean front rooms though
