Absolutely, people get caught up in bidding wars. Also, I think a lot of people confuse the MSRP on a lot with CI's regular price, and think they're getting a deal.
Quite often I find the best deals on the Quickies lots, probably because they're not open long enough for the prices to get jacked up.
At least cbid has standard shipping rates, unlike eBay where you can get raped. Case in point: a while ago I was checking out some Softspikes. I found a guy selling 3 of the blister packs for what you'd normally pay for 1. These would easily fit in a small PM box, but he wanted ~$15 for shipping.

I've gotten two good deals in the last couple weeks, they are out there for sure. I try to only check cbid when I plan on buying a box, and I search to see if they have what I'm looking for, and put in a bid. If I get it for 20-50% less than even the lowest listed internet price, it's worth it. It seems like the prices get really bid up when people treat it like ebay, trying to snatch up boxes at the last minute rather than bidding like they should: early and low. I got a box of Padilla Miami torpedos for around $100 and a box of Perdomo Reserve Cameroons for around $80. You just can't beat the prices.

Been mainly smoking my pipes for the last few years with the occasional cigar. I want to try more cigars this summer so I can find a few I like and stick with those. Been hitting Cbid hard for the last two months and got a lot a good deals on singles and five packs. That place is addicting.

I got caught a couple times paying more than msrp, but I learned my lesson. Great deals can be had on boxes though. I got a box of padilla 1932 for 49 bucks one time and the 1964 as well. Sometimes there are auctions that slip through the cracks. I'm all stocked up for this summers smoking season though, now I gotta get some deals for winter......

Like others have said - there are some good box deals out there from time to time but you do have to watch out for bidding wars.

Since this was brought back from the dead anyways...

A couple days ago I put in a bid on a box of partagas just for the hell of it, thinking enough people would want them that I wasn't going to win. Naturally I won. I hope I like them.
