Default Two excellent maduros...

Went to a good English pub that is cigar friendly and enjoyed two sticks that I've not tried before. Both came from fellow inmates-thanks again. First was a La PLina Maduro toro, followed by a Nica Libre Maduro box press toro. These had been sleeping in the wineador at 66% humidity for a year or so and had been forgotten until a house move unearthed a lot of hidden gems.
The La Palina had a tight draw and needed several touch-ups / relights. If the flavor wasn't so good, I'd have given her up. Initial flavors were savory, smoky expresso and dark tobacco - superb! Changes throughout we're slight, with a light bitter chocolate appearing. Overall a really good Maduro worth getting more. Next was the Nica Libre, which could not have performed any better. Perfect draw & burn with smooth, creamy medium body flavors. One of the best looking box press sticks I've seen. Well hidden seams, no large veins and nearly invisible cap. Gorgeous construction. My friend wanted to know if I was going to smoke the Nica or taker her home! This one was mostly one-dimensional with no notable changes. That's not a bad thing, as I was able to enjoy excellent flavors throughout. Cedar, tasty tobacco, light coffee, mildly savory. Love that savory, slightly salty thing! . Two good choices for the night. By the way, had a few good Old Thumper ales that pairs well with cigars. If you want to try something with a serious kick, have a few Double Thumpers (9.8 %). Just have a designated driver if you go for three or four pints!

The LaPalina Maduro Toro is one of my favorites.

Mac - do you find that they don't like to be on the dry side?

I've enjoyed them ROTT and a few months sitting in the vinos. Either way, I enjoyed the heck out of them.
