Default Which humidifier do you recommend

Unfortunately, the Oasis II XL that came with the humidor has the "LLL" code that constantly shows on the display, so I believe that I need another one.

Which do you recommend between another Oasis II XL cost $179

OR
the hydra® lg humidifier $172

Also, should I use beads and a humidifier? Just beads? or just a humidifier?

Thanks in advance for your help.

This is worth a try...

Why does the Unit read HHH or LLL?

This usually this happens when the control top feels too much moisture or humidity. If you have recently filled the water cartridge, please remove the top and let it air dry for a few hours. After that, give it a helping hand using a blow dryer. Of course, you don't want to melt the plastic so don't hold it too close and preferably use it on a “cool” setting. Then leave it sit awhile again before you hook it up. Then, follow the refilling directions very and you should have no future trouble.

I say just go with the HCM beads and forget about it. Thats all I use in my cabinet and im solid at 65. Plus it will cost you less unless you have a very large cabinet

Howard, I use a Hydra LG and beads.
I had the LG first and added the beads, they helped reduce th RH swings from the top to bottom.

I just read a post from Waffle. He said that he took the foam brick out and replaced it with water beads. Have you done that also? and WTH are water beads?

I can't say what Stephen's results were from using those, but about a year ago, just for shits and giggles, I tested some aqua-gems. Some were re-hydrated with distilled water and others re-hydrated with a 50/50 PG/H2O mixture. Neither one was worth a crap. Humidity ran over 70% in both cases, drastically over in the case of the water only gems, and in both cases, their ability to absorb excess moisture was basically non-existent. I suppose they might work depending on your climate, but if I wanted gel, I'd just buy it from a vendor selling a known good cigar product, rather than chancing my cigars to something designed for cut flowers in a vase just to save a buck or two.
