Default Weight Lifting Gloves

I started working out at a new gym this week and they have a lot more free weights and machines but they are kinda beat up. I am looking for a pair of workout gloves that I can wear to protect my hands. Can anyone recommend any? Thank you.

I use a set of Harbinger gloves. Fairly affordable and they have done me well thus far. Then again im a novice, but they have been a big help to me and my jacked up hands. Lol

I have gone through a couple pairs from them with full wrist straps, no complaints.

Maybe a little overkill for what you are looking for though Kristin.

The straps are nice for doing shoulder shrugs when my hands are exhausted cause I can wrap them around a straight bar and use less grip strength. I have girl hands so...

Not a fan of gloves in the gym, for me that is a "no no". Straps for pull up's is about all I'd recommend...

The reason for me is to protect my hands because the equipment is kinda old and a little rusty because of the pool. They are going to be remodeling soon.

Sounds like you need Blue Nitrile gloves!

Another vote for the Harbinger gloves here. I like the "Big Grip" ones.

I can't afford open callouses touching the gym equipment after two bouts with Staph the last couple years.

I was in the hospital for a week on a couple mega-anti-biotics. Long story on how it got so bad, but my orthopedic said another day and we would have been chancing amputation.

I actually prefer my bare hands =). I used to wear gloves, but found that my grip got better and forearms got 'bigger' from not using them. But on the heavier lifts like deadlifts, I use straps.

I don't remember the brand of glove my wife used when she used to work out at the gym, but they helped her keep her hands in good shape. Now she uses them to unload the truck when she gets to Hana with all her supplies for the week.

Good luck with your choice.

Harbinger's are great for men. For women there is many more types of gloves. You could even go with cycling gloves. Go to a sports store and check out all the gloves for all sports. Go to the weights and see how they feel on a bar. I get girls that come with these big guy gloves on, they wear them once and never again. Try them in the store.
