Default The $15 Humidor

Well I've been thinking about it for a while, and with a recent trade it was necessary. Went out and bought a humi pack and a container. Wham Bam and I've got a Humi. Now I've got some more room and a place for stickers when I get them.

Now a nice cutter and my list of "wants" will be complete!

Works Well, But Why 72 RH??? I Use The Same Set Up, But Prefer 65 RH. The Tupperware Tends To Hold Moisture In.

Doing the same thing myself, but I had picked up a humidipak from the B&M and need to replace it with a proper Boveda pack.

Cheap, effective, and it travels well.

Knocker, it was the lowest any of my local places had. And it says that it will be around 68% if the air it is going into is resonably dry, which right now the weather is. Next go around I'll probbly steop down to a 65 or 67 bag (whichever they have)

Just make sure that you crack the top periodically to keep the humidity from building up. If not, it will exceed 80% very quickly.

I'm using the same brand but its bigger with some 65% beads. It works great but if the temp goes up the humidity stays at about mid 70's.

I have a humidor for my regular sticks and a tupperdor for the infused stuff. I bought the biggest sealable container that my Walmart had, it has about 20 sticks in it and it looks empty, no way I'll post a pic of it...

I think in the end you will be unhappy with the 72% bag-o-mersture. As others have mentioned, 65% is really great.
HOWEVER, for a leaky container, and faux-tupperware does tend to lose moisture over time, perhaps 72% is not so bad.
Perhaps someone with experience could chime in. I have not had a tupperdor since the late 80s, maybe early 90s.
One thing for SURE, though, those containers are all better than a desk drawer, so you are on the right path.

OLS why do you say I will be so unhappy? This was the best I could get in a short time and I will switch to something lower next time I find it. If I find my cigars to moist I will just dry them for a bit.

I think that he is trying to say that you may find that at 72% your cigars will be over-humidified and not smoke well.

I find when my cigars are at 70%+, they have a hard time staying lit and burning evenly.

My 65% box, every stick burns very well, and I get huge smoke from it.

Next step, get yourself a bigger tupperwear (you can get them cheap at second hand stores), or just make the jump to a cooler.

Also, keep in mind, if you plan on keeping the sticks in there long term, it helps to have some spanish cedar in there to help "age" the cigars. Plastic obviously doesn't age/mellow cigars at all.

I think ultimately, I'll have a cooler with cedar for long term storage, and a nice 100ct humidor at 65% for "ready to smoke" sticks. As well as a tupperware for infused stuff.

I have a Tuppador for mine as well, my BIL is going to sell me his small 20-50 ct humi + his sticks and a lighter for $30, which I will use for infused smokes, but until that magical day happens when I have cash I will have to contiue using this, I have been at walmart eyeballing their selection and I have my next one picked out already lol.
