Talking El Triunfador

Date: 3/14/09

Cigar: El Triunfador Lancero (7.5 x 38)

Cost: I can't remember. I bought the box last month.

Drink: Coca-Cola (the best cola)

Appearance: This has a dark and toothy Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper on it. There were a couple veins showing. I really like the simple look of the cigar. The appearance gets a 10/10 .

Taste of the cigar: The first half was tastes of cocoa and some woodsy flavors. The second half is what I really enjoyed. I picked up cocoa, chocolate, nutty flavors, and a little bit of vanilla. There were also a couple spots where it reminded me of a Habana.

Construction: Held an average ash for a lancero. The draw was just a touch on the tight side, but I didn't mind at all. The cigar required only a few small touchups.

Strength: This was a medium bodied cigar.

Summary: This cigar was very, very good. Pete Johnson/Don Pepin Garcia have another winner on their hands. I am glad I picked up a box. I give it a 9/10.

Default Re: El Triunfador

I had this cigar yesterday for the first time and really liked it. Very heavy on the cocoa flavors.

Wow, the profile of the second half that you described is one that I'd love. I'm going to smoke one soon.

Nice review. Thanks.

Pete Johnson said it is simply a Cabaiguan Maduro.

Yeah, what I posted came straight from Pete in his own words on another board.

It is an awesome cigar.
