I'm with you Dave, even though this is a long-term investment for me, I still cringe when I see my 401 take a hit.

I have some fun with my 401, I have some money set aside that gets invested in IPOs, those are usually fun to watch.

Being young, mine is pretty aggressive. That and big blue does a pretty good job contributing. Overall its good, just takes some serious nose dives every now and again. I have an IRA setup as well that I have a bit more control over. South Africas and Malaysia are a booming area to invest.

I lost almost everything I had in mine a few years ago. I decided to pull the rest out, at that time, and pay medical bills. Glad I did and so are the Dr's.

but I worked out a child support pre-payment plan with "my" half. Everybody won.

As far as investments go, if you buy low and sell high, you usually come out ahead.

I'm sure I am not alone in thinking that this girl is looking at the future value of her retirement investments.

You could probably generate a pretty steady income selling them to Mac...

You're never too young. The more you prep early on the better you are in the future

When ever the market takes I dive, I just pretend like my current 401K purchase shares are on sale. It eases the pain of the drop in total value.

I rolled my 401k into an IRA when I retired. I went very conservative after years of being really aggressive. I find I'm sleeping a lot better now.
