I bought a "make your own six pack" last night to try some new stuff. The SS was part of it and now I am drinking the Duck-rabbit Poter which is also very tasty. The others I bought were the DR Milk Stout, SS Oatmeal Stout, Sierra Nevada Celebration, and the Tommyknocker Dobblebock. I'll report later on the others.

I homebrew, and had one of my homebrewed versions of Gose (not Gueze) last night. Info on the style:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gose
http://www.beerhunter.com/documents/19133-001353.html
I bottled some in long neck bottles like the ones pictured. While getting my cigars together for the Ybor Herf in my cellar last night I noticed that one of the corks had blown out. The mess was very minimal thankfully. But I realized these may not last. So they went into the fridge. They open with a great 'pop' just like sparkling wine. That sound is very satisfying, especially when its something you've created yourself.
BTW, if you can find this style of beer and enjoy sour beers, this is a great beer. There are only a couple commercial versions that make it over here though.

Currently I'm on a Young's Double Chocolate Stout kick. Last week it was the Sam Adams Holiday Sampler.

My number one, favorite beer right now (and has been for some time) is Guinness. Some people say they find it too heavy or that it fills them up... It's the opposite with me. I can put back 15 pints of those and fall down like the best of them, but I don't feel full or bloated doing it.

I've recently likened it to my Kryptonite...

mmmm....Guinness....

Right now I am enjoying Eric's Red cream ale from a local brewery (Quidi Vidi).

I'm also a big fan of Innis and Gunn oak aged Scottish beer.

Recently?

You've probably had this out for a while, but the Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale just made it to my BB&M. I had been drinking Brooklyn Brewery's Black Chocolate Stout, but they jacked the price up to $12/6pk a few weeks ago, so f that.

Making my way thru the varieties of Bell's beers. I'm still a Two-Hearted Ale whore, though.

I have had one in Edmonton, but we don't get it here in NL. I remember it being good, but I'll need to try it again to refresh my memory.

I like Guiness, I do. I really don't understand folks who say it's heavy but I'm sure it has something to do with the fact that I lean towards much more heavy beers than Guiness. If I want to lighten up, I'll move to Guiness. No joke. I guess it's the same with cigars. If I'm used to full-bodied cigars, then the lesser-bodied ones will taste light.

I may have mentioned this brand already much earlier on in this thread but man oh man. I just found a couple bottles of the Russian River Brewing Co's PLINY THE ELDER at the Beverage Warehouse out in Culver City/Marina Del Rey and snatched them out of the cooler (they require refrigeration).

I can usually only find this on tap occasionally at one of my favorite bars at the Redondo Beach Pier (Naja's Place where they have 77 beers on tap and another 623 elsewhere). Last time I was there, they didn't have it.

I popped one of my two open last night at dinner and man, oh man, oh man.....this is my favorite beer right now.

Right now I have two in my fridge.

1. Deschutes Mirror Pond: A crisp and clean pale ale from Bend, OR. Not as hoppy as an IPA, but with a pleasing floral nose and a respectable semi-bitter finish. This was on sale at my local liquor store so I took a chance, and I would definitely purchase it again. I'd like to try this one on tap.

2. New Belgium 1554: You'll say I'm partial because I live in Colorado, and I accept that. This is the best example of black ale brewed this side of Mandaloria. Smoky, just the right amount of hoppiness with a chocolatey finish, but not heavy. Essentially a porter. And the only reason I'm partial to it is because it's sold in just about any store in this state. Lucky me.
