Default Amero lancero

The day before my trip to the Intertabac tradeshow in Dortmund my facebookfriend Willis Cabrera said that I should stop by their Chess cigars booth for some samples and as I am always eager to smoke cigars that I haven't smoked before I did. Chess cigar company owner Hawk gave me a few samples for me and the review panel we have on my Dutch website. This 7½x34 Amero lancero was one of the cigars in the sampler. The cigar is made with three year old tobacco and a five year old Corojo wrapper.

The band sticks out, it is huge and looks like part of a dollar bill. The construction feels good and I smell a mild peppery barnyard. The chocolate brown wrapper only has a few veins. The predraw is a bit tight but I can still taste raisin and a hint of pepper.

I taste a full, sweet and mild musty wood flavor which is quite nice, the mustiness is pleasant and the sweetness is good. After a third I taste a bit more sweetness and some herbs. The cigar gets less musty and I think I even taste some chocolate.

Halfway I taste wood with some spices, on the background the cigar gets a little spicy too. After two thirds I taste oak with some nutmeg and some sweetness. The cigar gets a little more spicy but yet fresher too with a minty aftertaste.

This cigar lasted me for two hours. The draw is good and I got a lot of smoke. The light colored ash is compact and firm. The burn is beautiful. This cigar is full flavored and medium to full bodied.

Would I buy this cigar again? As soon as they come to the Dutch market.
