Default When to change humidifier wick?

In the beginning of May I put my new "Set and Forget" humidifier in service. I just checked it today and noticed some mold spots toward the top of the wick. Mostly on the interior side. I was told to replace these around six months. How often should it be replaced? Its seem to keep using it, might be a bad idea...

Six months is about right.
Moldy? Replace it.

If moldy, then there is a reason. Make sure to thoroughly clean the reservoir and do a final rinse with distilled water. Make sure that the flask and funnel are cleaned likewise.

Mine tend to last about a year before replacement. It varies on local conditions. If the mold was other than white, you need to figure that out asap.
