Pan Roasted Coffee
Met up with a buddy of mine in Gainesville today and he brought me some of his pan roasted coffee. Cigars bridged the gap, I'm more of a connoisseur in that area and he's just a casual smoker and it's the opposite when it comes to coffee. I'll be brewing these on my Chemex I'll keep this as a running thread as I go through them the next week or so.
If any of them strike your fancy you can get in touch with him either through his website at http://baristaonduty.com/contactus.aspx or via twitter @BaristaOnDuty Hope you guys enjoy the reviews. |

Looking forward to the reviews Patrick. BTW, nice web page your buddy has, as it has perked my interest now into pan or maybe even oven roasting green coffee beans

Re: Pan Roasted Coffee
Sorry for the somewhat dead thread. Law school got crazy last week and this week.
Here are some quick thoughts on what I've tried so far. 1.) Colombia O Organic - good, a little too bright for me. Citrus/Tea notes very prominent. Would have preferred a darker roast, it was medium. He said it's new and he's gonna go darker next time. 2.) Kenya AA - was excellent, my favorite of the bunch so far. (lost my notes on this one unfortunately) 3.) Ethiopian Yirgacheffe - Nice depth of flavor, citrus, smoky, earthy notes. Medium Body, Medium Acidity. I thought it was very good. Meant to treat these reviews with more detail, just ran short on time. Hope this filled the gap a little though. Looking forward to trying the Harrar this week. |
