Default 2000 Yong Pin Hao Pu-erh Raw

I decided to pull one of my older beengs out and sample. This is the 2000 Yong Pin Hao "Yi Wu Zheng Shan" Stone pressed raw Pu-erh.

This is my first sample from a beeng with 10 years age. I really didn't know what to expect. I was truly impressed with the silky earth tones. This tea is the smoothest Pu-erh I have had the pleasure to sample. My one complaint would be a lack of complexity. Smooth earth with herbal notes make up the entire body of this tea. The herbal elements can be quite overbearing in many teas not just Pu-erh's but this tea had the perfect balance.

Worth the price tag? $85 for a 380g beeng at Jas. I think there is better value out there but I must say this was impressively smooth and perfectly balanced. I have had more complex Pu-erh's that still tasted wild but cost much less. Guess it depends on what you are looking for in a tea. But, I don't regret the purchase.
