http://www.frenchyspipes.com/

get a couple of cobs, cleaners, tamper from Frenchy. he'll take care of you.

I started out with some samplers from

http://www.pipesandcigars.com/
https://www.tobacco-barn.com/news.aspx?showarticle=25

My first tin purchases were Dunhill's My Mixture 965 and MacBarren's Vanilla Cream. Like the Arcadia from Tobacco Barn too.

It's another slope...be careful!

Do what Sean said and get a couple cobs. As for samplers, come on by. I got a great sampler from Tyler and am willing to share

You can never have too many cigars, they are like an investment in good times.

I wish you would have said something like a day earlier

Oh well... If you need some advice I can help you out, and I got some baccy's for you to try too. Definitely get a cob for like 5 bucks at cvs/walgreens. And you will need the czech tool very important. Some pipe cleaners and the tobacco you are all set.

If you are looking for a place to start, first and foremost, I recommend the Newbie Sampler Trade for Pipe Tobac. It is stickied on the Pipe WTS/WTB part of the forum, which you should have access to now or very soon.

As far as baccys to try, tastes differ, but look for very high quality baccys. You can check out tobaccoreviews.com and look up blends by 4 star ratings. You are pretty safe betting on blends with more than 10 reviews and 4 stars average.

Based on my personal tastes, see below.

For VA, look for: Rattray's Hal O The Wynd or Samuel Gawith Full Virginia Flake

For English, look for: GL Pease Westminster or Samuel Gawith Squadron Leader

For Va/Per, go with: AC Peterson Escudo or Robert McConnels Scottish Cake

If you want a cheap, rather sweet, but still good Burley blend more akin to an aromatic, go for: pipesandcigars.com Butternut Burley.

Good luck!

The Frenchy recommendation is very good. I would also suggest a pipe or 2 from JM Boswell. His pipes are very reasonable and need little or no break-in. I'm actually thinking about getting back to pipe smoking myself.
