Default Today smoke of honor!

In all my years of cigar smoking I have not had an Opus X... Today to celebrate Germany's convincing World Cup win I am going to light up this celebratory Opus X (I think it's a Reserva d' Chateau cause it's 7" and appears to be 48 ring size)

Check here later for a review!

Yes, I hope you enjoy! Coincidentally I just bought my first Opus X today ... gonna lay it down until my birthday next month.

And congrats on your team's victory as well.

The Opus X is a cigar that has really grown on me over time; more so than any other smoke. They have a very unique cedary richness that took me years to fully appreciate, ( I didn't really "get" these as a new enthusiast).

I smoke them as often as I can, but if price was not a factor, these would be my go-to NC. enjoy!

and that was a pretty convincing win today eh?

Well, I would rate this cigar a 90... It would have probably benefited from a couple more years aging (but what stick doesn't?) gorgeous construction, a perfect wasp-nest burn with a glorious ash which only dropped 4 times and only required one minor re-light to keep it burning true.

The cigar reminded me a lot of a Cohiba Ciglo VI but a bit more of a woody and at times cedar tree bark flavor with hints of pepper and licorice. Quite tasty after the first few puffs and then it took on a bit of a harsh taste for the middle 1/4 but got quite flavorful for the last 1/3 and was at it's best near the end (the sign of a good smoke for me anyhow)

Probably not the best value for the price but a good overall experience. Being my first I would probably buy others from their line and let them age gracefully. It's a size I like but would like to hear other comments from experienced OX smokers and try some different vitolas.
