Default Stink Bug Problem

Anybody know of or have used a specific pesticide on these things?

Starting last year here in Virginia they have really started to take hold. From reading it looks like they were accidentally introduced into eastern Pennsylvania.

I found a large infestation on my deck under our cooler/storage unit and got rid of them. But they just seem to always find a way in. Every where I go in Northern Virginia, DC and Maryland people complain about them. I have used general sprays but haven't found anything that works good - so looking for some advice from anyone that's got some luck against them.

Thanks,

Ron

these guys endorse stuff with deltamethrin in it, so anything like that.

Coming from the UK, we have millions of these guys all over the place, never seem to be a problem!

Unless you find them grossly offensive, usually they're not very problematic unless you crush a few.

We have them all over in Louisiana, and I rarely smell them.

Edit:

You have a slightly different variety than we have here. I found this when looking around:

http://ento.psu.edu/extension/factsh...ated-stink-bug

Seems to have some advice for combating them.

I have a ton of them around my house especially around this time of year.

Like Silound said they don't really smell unless your crush them but they are still a pain.

It can be funny watching the dogs go after them though

You're in the same area I am ( maryland , va, pa ) they are the asian version if I'm correct. We had them rather bad a few years ago in PA. I went to the store and bought a super soaker, filled it with 1/4 bleach and would go around and shoot them. They never came back the year later...I also put up a couple of bird feeders around the yard. I'm not quite sure if birds actually ate them or not, but worth a shot.

The deal is the little SOB's keep finding their way in - find them around the doors and such or on the curtains. Just want to treat the outsides to knock them down.
I normally treat around the foundation with a yard spray of some type but they don't seem to be working on these guys.
So was looking for a specific spray by name and not ingredients.

And Frank - I have maybe 5 different bird feeders now - but they are not dieting on these guys.

Found this site that has an organic spray:

http://blog.ecosmart.com/index.php/2...have-to-stink/

Never used it but it's worth a shot.

I used to find those guys on my tomatoes in the last few years. We just moved to PA and they seem to be worse this year, but not really a nuisance. To be fair though, they're not invading my home.

Ron
And can you blame them?
I grew up in the Metro D.C. area and we always had them around. Of course as a kid you aren't concerned with how much of a problem they are or aren't.

Cyper WP. It's the generic for Demon WP. Both would work. There are a few good vids on youtube for application of this product.

you could also call your county extension office. they will have been keeping track of the outbreak along with keeping stats on what pesticide is most commonly used by the pros in your area.

I'm what you may call... a bit sadistic when it comes to the eradication of insects. As such, I haven't found a bug yet that RAID Wasp and Hornet Spray would not kill.

My other preferred method of death dealing is a squirt bottle full of gasoline. Of course right by the house... that may cause some problems... but RAID definitely works... on just about anything.

Found this thread through google.

lol @ super soaker full of gasoline... that could definitely be problematic!

These suckers have such a strong exoskeleton raid products sometimes dont work!

These evil insects are killing us here in Maryland... it even made fox news

http://www.foxnews.com/health/2010/0...rops-maryland/

This seems to be the first result in google for stink bugs http://www.getridofstinkbugsnow.com/

Hopefully you guys have better luck than I did in getting rid of them!

Johnny
