Fed Ex is waiting for me to pick it up. Funny a signature was required for the Package They tried to deliver it today but I wasn't home, So i called and said "hold it I'll be there when you open, what time is that anyway?" I hope it works out ok. Biggest online purchase for me ever.

Awesome! Invest in some good lenses. The 50mm f/1.8 or f/1.4 are tough to beat for the price.

Yup got it and been playing with it all morning, sweet! Maybe I'll post a photo. Press the button get a photo, none of that waiting. Although my Canon A620 is still a very nice point and shoot for what it is. Somehow I don't think I'll use as much as I used to.

So one of the guys here asked me
"what do you think of the T1i, now that you've had it for a while?"

And here's my response....
"Frankly, It's not all I had hoped it would be. My other camera is a Canon A620 and although it's a "point and shoot" you can still adjust Aperature, speed, go full manual etc and quite frankly the pictures seem to be better. Especially when you zoom in and look at the pixels. Funny because the T1i is a 14Mp and the A620 is 8mp. Could be the glass, and I am no pro but have used/owned SLR's for years. I am thinking of sending it in.
Another dissappointment is the HD video recording is "tempermental" it frequently drops frames or fails to save the video it just recorded or the file gets corrupted. It only shoots at 15 FPS in full HD mode (1080p) which is mediocre at best for an action.
I hate to be so down on this camera but my A620 seems to work so much better with and for so much less. "

Could be my lack of knowledge or maybe a bum camera, what are other's thoughts?

Well the glass will make a difference for sure - but so will shooting at the full 14mp. The pixel size does not mean it's a better picture - it has to do more with the size of the print. So less can be better - and you can adjust that. If you are not going to be printing and blowing up the shots - 72 dpi will work fine and give the appearance of sharper images when viewed on the computer screen. Not sure what the aperture is on the A620 - but larger pixel size and higher files need more light. So your lighting with those 3.5 and 4 may not have been enough for your shots. So much more goes into this type of camera than a point and shoot.

In addition you may want to pick up a few books to help you make adjustments and get the most out of that camera. I can suggest a few non-boring ones if you would like.

Shouldn't I get a "sharper" pic with the T1i? I mean the glass alone cost what the A620 costs.
