Default Need suggestions for thrifty smokes

Here's the beef... I've got a cousin that has gone through a very rough last little over a year. I'll just say that he went into the hospital with infections throughout his body and organs shutting down. He actually died and was resuscitated. He ended up surviving the ordeal after 3 or 4 weeks in ICU and more time in a regular room.

All this leads up to now. Considering what he went through he is fairly healthy except for his heart which sustained damage from the infections. He isn't able to work and only gets like $700 from disability so needless to say he doesn't have mucy extra moolah.

About six months ago I gave him a humidor with a bunch of cigars, a lighter, cutter, butane, etc. He told me last night that he has smoked almost all of them and wanted some suggestions on what he could afford. One thing he is able to do is play golf (on a cart) thanks to a place here in Topeka that offers golf & fitness memberships for $29/month. The courses pretty much suck but it's only $29/month. He likes to smoke a cigar while hes playing so I wanted to replenish his stash for him since he can't afford it.

Playing golf and smoking cigars has turned into one of the few bright spots in his life so I would hate for him not to have something to smoke.

So... any suggestions?? One stick I have found that I really enjoy for about $1.50 - $2.00 each is the Devil's Weed from CI. They are surprisingly tasty for the price. He does like the smaller cigars... robusto or smaller although I'm sure he would not turn down a toro or something similar.

My wife and I are on a fairly tight budget ourselves so any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks!!

You can get 30 Diesels for just under $100 and they are very good smokes. Also the Arturo Fuente Curly Head is nice and you can get a box for around $60.

By far my favorite cheap smoke so far... and only ~80 cents a stick.

While you're on CI, you can look at some of the name brand seconds from recognized lines. Famous Smoke Shop also has some good, economical smokes, that run the range from mild to full bodied but aren't well-known boutique lines.

Flor De Oliva. For $1.50 they are a great value and most wouldn't be able to pick it as a bundle cigar in a blind taste test.

Flor De Oliva, Any of Cusano's Bundles (CC, MC, M1, P1), Occidental by Alec Bradley, SB by Alec Bradley, Fuente Curly Heads, Quorum, the list goes on... All of which are available for between $1 and $3 a stick and most B&M's will even give a 10% discount on full bundles.

My favorite cheap smokes, all obtained on CigarMonster or Cigarbid (though you can look at the retail sites, too) are, in no particular order, Perdomo Slow-Aged Lot 826, Famous Nic 5000 or 7000, 5 Vegas Gold or Series 'A', Arganese Maduro or Nicaraguan.
Moving up in price slightly higher ($2.50 or less), try JR auctions for El Rey del Mundo or Punch Gran Puro. Hope this helps.

Sounds like you enjoy the mild smokes. Devil's Weed is a good 1, also try the Padilla Cazadores, more medium, but a good smoke for a great price.

Punch Rothchild Natural and also marketed under HdM label. Either the natural or maduro. This has been a good value, nice size cigar for many, many years.

Famous has a 50 cab for $129.95, maybe someone has them even less?

And the regular 5 vegas golds both $55 for a box of robustos on CI, get the daily deal for 20-30 and get free shipping. On a good daily deal you could score probably 60 cigars for $135.

The regulars are tasty and it looks like we got someone who loves the maduros (no surprise).

EDIT you can also get RP and MoW 2nd's for pretty cheap on CI....just go to CI and he can get some great smokes for 2-2.50 a stick.

EDIT he could also order "joes daily deal" everyday and score 20 bundles of decent smoke for 25-30 shipped. On the right days of course.
