Default CAO L'Anniversaire Cameroon Perfecto

https://www.caocigars.com/cigars/cameroon/

So, i got one of these in the cigars daily lineup deal during its podcast. I purchased it to try to give CAO a better chance because in the past i just don't remember ever liking anything from them but that opinion is starting to change. This cigar resembles an AF Hemingway Short Story in size. I'm excited to try this little cigar and give it a fair chance. So, without delay let's start the review and see what we find!

Wrapper: The wrapper is a beautiful dark chocolate color with no veins, tight invisible seams and a double cap

Pre-light/Draw: Pre-light aroma is of sweet hay and barnyard. After a straight cut the draw is perfect but i expect it to loosen up after smoking it a bit

right at light up i taste hay and nuttiness, light earthiness, leather, finish is long and slightly creamy, some cocoa, cinnamon, baking spices, coffee with cream, it has almost a candy type of flavor, maple, cedar, almost a short story clone but with enough uniqueness to still be it’s own thing, white pepper,

earthiness, leather, white pepper, cedar, baking spices, nuttiness, coffee with cream, cocoa, caramel, maple, hay/grass, dried fruits, finish is long and slightly creamy,

earthiness, finish is long and slightly creamy still, leather, white pepper, cedar, baking spices, toastiness, coffee, cocoa, caramel, hints of maple, hay/grass, dried fruits, all in all a very pleasant cigar,

Ash/Burn: Ash was well packed with no shedding or flaking and white as snow. The burn was even throughout requiring no touch ups.

Final Thoughts: For the price you can't beat this cigar. It's almost a point for point replica of a short story but with enough uniqueness to be it's own thing. I'm really glad i gave this cigar a chance because i enjoyed it highly. Flavors were all on point with lots of smoke. I wasn't struggling for flavor descriptions. Give this cigar a chance and buy yourself a 5 pack and see what you think. My recommendation is if you're a fan of short story's then you'll love this so buy a box. it's a great value when you consider the cost of a box of short story's. I hope you enjoyed today's review because tomorrow is a busy day for me with home health nurses and doctors appointments so no reviews tomorrow. I'll hopefully be back friday with another review and the weekend of course. God bless you all!

PS, The entire series underwent repackaging including bands so if mine doesn't look like yours no worries it's the same cigar. I actually prefer the green bands over the gold ones.

IMHO, this is the only thing in the entire CAO lineup worth a crap anymore. Maybe Rick Rodriguez's replacement will breath some life into them. That Amazon Basin stick with the rope tied around it was great, but I think it was limited for IPCPR.

I remember when CAO first came out with their Cameroon line in 1998. Their robusto was astounding, it was an instant favorite. It then became hard to find for a few years. I had one a couple years ago, but it wasn't quite the same. I will have to try these - they are in one of my favorite shapes.

Peace of the Lord be with you.
