Default What to pair w/ a cigar?

After spending a couple of years as a bartender, I grew to appreciate many drinks.

Aside from Tequila (thanks to some childhood mishaps ), there's not much I can't enjoy.

This brings me to wondering what you folks like to drink while enjoying a cigar?

I always feel like a cigar is asking for something brown like Scotch or Bourbon.

Beer (porter or stout usually)
Rum (Zacapa 23 or Centenario)
Vodka (Stoli, Jean Marc)
Tequila (Don Julio Anejo, Patron XO)
Amaretto (Disaronno)
Port (Grahams, Fonseca)
and probably lots of other things I am too drunk to remember.

Yeah. What he said.
Gotta add martinis to the list.

Amaretto sounds interesting as a pairing. What type of cigar to you typically pair it with?

I happened to win a bottle of Disaronno at a golf outing and, other than making a Godfather with it, I'm at a loss!

Seems to pair well with most medium bodied Cuban cigars for me, Lane.

I like it with just an ice cube or two, the sweetness pairs nicely with a medium bodied cigar, Joel.

Thanks Tom, I'll have to give it a try. I'm envisioning it with a Monte Especial #2.

Never had the pairing before, but I'd imagine a Mojito would go well with a few cigars.

Lots of great input here.

This weekend I will be going with my current standby of Leinenkugel's Summer Shandy and maybe a Jim Beam Red Stag Manhattan.
