Default 777 - a cigar from Hades?

I don't know anything about Jesus Fuego cigars but that didn't stop me from buying a 777 at a B&M in New Orleans about two weeks ago. It had been sitting, resting in my desktop humi, for the opportunity to present itself to me. That happened this morning and I'm now in the position of saying that I will never try that again. How bad was this cigar? I don't really know because I could only smoke about the first half inch before I threw it away. If this would have been the first cigar I every smoked, it would have been my last.

Pre-light: It looked okay but it felt a little soft except for the hard stems I could feel. The aroma smelled like tobacco. I carefully lit it to make sure I would have an even burn. It had an real easy draw. I mean it was like sucking on a plastic straw.

The first puff produced an OK amount of smoke but the flavor was indistinguishable. I took another puff and asked myself "what the hell is that taste?" When I tried another puff, I got very little smoke and hardly any flavor. Looked at it and it was pretty much out. In fact, the filler had burned in a little but the wrapper had not. This was only after three puffs. Re-lighted, making sure the wrapper was burning.

Took another puff and then it hit me. The flavor reminded me of when I was in grade school and I put the pencil in my mouth. It tasted like pencil lead.
Looked at it again and watched as the amount of smoke slowly decreased to about a thin wisp. I tried to take another puff but it just failed to generate enough smoke to taste. I decided it wasn't worth the effort to light it again.

Pulled out a Punch and had an enjoyable smoke instead.

Damn Joe...

777 is Jesus's "value brand". They are ass.

Give his Delirium or Corojo which carry the Jesus Fuego brand name. Those are very good.

J. Fuego around here is as synonymous to "crap" as Cremosa is on these forums.

He stopped by a long while back, did the demo thing, talked it up, had a small event, and we ordered a lot of boxes because his samples were GOOD.

Almost a year later, we can't sell his sticks even dumped in the 40% off bin.

I like the Delirium and his regular line in Natural. I tried a 777 a little while back I thought it was sweet, some chili spice, and a fruity finish almost like a raisin. The only issue I had with it was that it kept going out.

Similar thing happened here.

We bought tons of boxes. Something like 5 of each size.

We are still on box one of each. We can't sell them for ****. It's retarded.

I will say, Jesus is a great guy.

Ouch, that sucks. At a B&M I once worked at we had the same problem with P.I. and other Reyes stuff. If I remember rightly, we gave one away with other cigar purchases and told the customers they were a special purchase and told them that once they were gone they were gone for good.

So instead of trying to sell them, you are dumping them off on Dan and I.

I agree. Last time he was around, he wanted to replace all of our boxes with new ones, saying we must have had bad boxes.

I think perhaps when his stuff first came out, it was a little rushed and not so great. I suspect the current production boxes are mush better, but I can't convince the owner to pick up 2-3 more boxes to try.

Every cigar maker needs to put their 2nd rate leaves into something. Fuego puts them into the 777. I have tried one before. And while not totally bad, I would hesitate to purchase another.
